If any of you guys were sleepers on your sides, how long did it take you to go back to that position?

How long is a good time to wait until you go to a doctor like a  chiropractor, physical therapy, etc?  (This is for my back and I know that they will have me lie on my chest for certain movements) and I don't want to tell them I had this surgery.

How long did you wait until you lifted weights?  I am merely talking about 10lb dumbbells but I still don't want to risk it.
I am just doing stretching for the time being.
I am male because I say so and nothing more.
I don't have to look or act like one therefore.

Honestly, makipu, I would call Rumer's office to ask the last two questions.  Don't trust random people on the internet.  ;)

For the first one, I think you can lay on your side whenever it is comfortable.  Probably wait for 4 weeks.  I don't think it is a huge deal for you at this point because you got the surgery a month or so ago, right?

out of all the things, not being able to sleep on my side was the worse because i literally would not sleep for more than 2 - 4 hours each night until i could sleep on my side. i waited until about 2 weeks in to be able to sleep on my side and i was still sleeping on the couch (which was more comfortable when i had to sleep on my back) and i would hug a pillow cushion when sleeping. it made it more comfortable since i usually hug my pillow on my side when i'm sleeping.

as for the weight thing, my little booklet i got from the surgeon said in regards to physical activity: until the 4th week, don't lift objects weighing more than 10 pounds, start physical activities as soon as you can but limit arm movements, it is possible to go to work after 3 weeks, and wait until week 6 before participating in intense physical activity and walk as much as possible.

I agree with others here re: time table. It depends on the surgeon. Do what she says yada yada. It may seem like just 10 lbs, oh that's nothing. But it could pull your incisions. A couple months will make a lot of difference even though it might mean you wait longer. Patience young grasshopper. :)

I went to the chiro at 2 months post op. I showed them my scars and they were a bit stiff the first few weeks getting adjusted but they knew to be careful.

I learned i actually have sleep apnea when i sleep on my back

prior to top surgery i always sleep on either my side or stomach

since i was forced to sleep on my back i would wake up during the night not being able to breathe and trying to gasp for air and not getting any air.....i felt like i was being strangled and it would take 30 seconds to a minute of not being able to breathe at all to finally getting air

im being treated for sleep apnea now and may need surgery for it.....i gotta do some sleep study ->-bleeped-<- first

so i started sleeping on my sides too soon at about 2 weeks post op because i couldnt breathe sleeping on my back

the pain of sleeping on my side was much more bearable than not being able to breathe
I wasn't holding it open for you, who holds the door open for a man?!?

Well I thought it was a nice gesture....BUT I GUESS I WAS WRONG!!!!!
