What are the symptoms of pregnancy for FTM?

Hi everyone, (first, sorry for my English, I'm from France)

I have an issue since Friday, let me explain it to you:

So I'm a FTM, didn't have hysterectomy, and had an unsafe sex almost 3 weeks ago. I emailed my endocrinologist who told me there are no risk of pregnancy since I'm on T. for a while. (I'm on T. for 6 years now and take it regularly, every 2 weeks). I wasn't really relaxed but didn't think about it until now. Since Friday, I have abundant vaginal discharge, like I have periods but it's "water-like", transparent, odorless and I don't feel any pain anywhere. It's abundant at the point that my underwear are totally wet. I had a pregnancy test (urinary) yesterday morning and it was negative but I'm still very worried. What this vaginal discharge could be due to? I've never had that kind of thing, and when I'm searching for information on the internet, I'm always seeing people talking about "is it symptom of pregnancy?" stuff, etc.
Obviously I don't have periods for very long while now, so how can we know what are the symptoms of pregnancy?

I'm really scared right now because I don't feel going to a gynecologist because of all these beards and voice things, I had my sex and name changed on all my IDs, ... so it could be very awkward for me.. For a blood test pregnancy too..

I don't know what to think right now and I can't talk about it with anyone.

Thanks for your answers or advice, hope I make it clear..

I have very little real help for you.  I have heard of ftm getting pregnant while taking t for years; I also know it is rare. I don't know why your endoc told you there was no risk.  After 6 years I would think your vagina would have become atrophy to the point that it would have been hard to have penetration.  There are other reasons for the water-like discharge; one of which is something was introduced into your vagina when you were penetrated.  You should see a dr doesn't have to be a GYN, a general practice should be able to help you.  Do you know any trans friendly drs, that is a good place to start?

Could be an STD could be some other kind of infection.   See a doctor, doesn't have to be a gynecologist, most GPs can handle a pelvic and STD and pregnancy testing.   Next time use a condom.

I would highly encourage you to see a doctor. Also, I've heard from FTMs (but you should verify) that there are potential complications with being on T for over 5 years and still having parts from your past life in there. I've also heard there are gynos who regularly see FTMs and will understand everything that you have anxiety about. It seems very unlikely that you're pregnant if you haven't been having periods but this doesn't seem like a period from my uneducated layman's opinion. It does, however, seem like something that should be looked at by a doctor.

Another thing it might be is just a pH imbalance as a result of intercourse, which does happen and is not unheard of. This can happen from a variety of things, but sex is definitely one of them, and the resulting discharge is just your body's way of cleansing itself and restoring order down there. If you took a pregnancy test and it showed up negative, it's doubtful it's a pregnancy, especially since it's an extreme anomaly to be able to get pregnant without functioning ovaries to produce ova, or the necessary hormonal balance to even stimulate growth from the ovarian follicle. Bottom line: no periods should almost definitely mean no pregnancies.

If not a pH imbalance, it could also be an STD/STI, which should definitely be checked out if you are not in a relationship with this certain partner and/or don't trust him. A lot of people are asymptomatic for sexual diseases and just assume they're clean without getting tested regularly.

Best of luck!

It's highly unlikely that you're pregnant. I would suggest, if it's possible to see a doctor. I would really see a doctor if your discharge has a weird smell.

First off, get to your GP to find the cause of the discharge. I don't remember my ex ever having discharge like that until her water broke just prior to delivery.

Its unlikely that you are pregnant, and I think a regular Dr. could run any tests needed to find out. I can understand your reluctance to seeing an OBGYN. Try not to get too upset. Most likely there is a fairly straight forward answer.

Thanks everyone for your answers! It definitely reassured me.

You know just wanted to experiment sex with men although I'm straight, and I've only dated girls.I had 2 other intercourse with guys before this unsafe one, and I used condoms. With this guy too, but in the action and the excitation, and I felt safe thanks to the T.. So yes I know, it's a mistake. Well, since 3 weeks, I see him regularly and I know he is totally freaked out about the IST things. I know he was tested for that and negative. So the afternoon after the unsafe sex, I did the test for HIV, and some of the IST and I'm all negative too. But I know it was too early, and only testing HIV, syphilis and the hepatitis. Not the other ones.
Gosh, I'll stick to girls now!

Could it be an infection whereas I don't feel any pain? Nor when I pee, nor when I have these discharges, no pain at all, never. And there's no weird smell, it doesn't smell anything actually. But it literally flows sometimes, it's really embarrassing.

I don't really have a GP and I don't know any Dr. here who is "FTM friendly", except for my endocrinologist who is very attentive and responsive by mails so, maybe I'll send her something, see if she can help one way or an other.

I bought an other urinary test that I'll use Wednesday when it'll be exactly 3 weeks after the intercouse.. See if it's still negative. Do you think I need a blood test? It's the same thing right? Checking the HCG thing?

Thanks again, you're very helpful  :)

You may have to go to a gynecologist.

If you did have an infection, and it was vaginal, then you wouldn't have pain when you urinated. Try going on line and seeing if there is a small trans community around where you live. They usually have a list of transfriendly Dr.s and the ones to stay away from. I know its embarrassing, but i'm sure who ever you go to has heard and seen much worse.

Sounds like an infection of some version. Need a visit with the doctor, but by itself has many more possibilties than pregnancy.

I suggest going to a doctor. I know it's very uncomfortable. I've done the same. I'm stealth and I had to go to a doctor due to odd discharge. I had a minor infection not related to sex or STDs, but I'm glad I went to the doctor, otherwise it could have been bad. You can never be too safe with your health.

Thanks again everyone!

I emailed my endocrinologist and she answered me "It's okay, it's hormonal. I'll call you."

Hormonal? I never had this in 6 years on T. ..

Also, it doesn't really smell something but sometimes I can smell something like chlorine. I do go regularly to the pool and I went there the day before these discharge begin, but that's weird. I still don't know what to think and I'm skeptical about the hormonal thing..

It flows less but it still flows..!

If she doesn't call, I'll definitely go to a doctor. I told my mother about the discharge without talking about my unsafe intercourse (because she doesn't know I tried guys), and she wants me to go to her gynecologist.

Definitely go to a gynecologist but preferably to a different one.

Tried to not be too graphic or triggering with this post but I hope it helps anyone who is wondering.
This happened to me recently within the last couple months. It's common in people who produce low/no estrogen... your ph balance and bacteria's in your downstairs ecosystem are all out of wack. If you go to a gyno they can give you the proper medication to fix it. All they did was swab me, did pelvic exam and look under the microscope. I had a lot of inflammation and discomfort as well as the crazy amount of discharge.  I was on a mix up of hydrocortisone suppositories and clindimycin for a month alternating everyday. Once that's done, my doc gave me cream to keep up with the maintenance down there. I haven't had an issue since.

If you're pregnant the first sign - more obvious than "no periods" because obv. we don't get periods on T on the whole - is "morning sickness" around 2-3 weeks from conception.

That will be your first major flag that occurs. You'll notice it isn't quite like any other kind of urge to throw up you've ever had. It might be slight enough not to make you run to the toilet or it might be severe, but it will most likely be there. The other two major early signs are hormone headaches and/or extra sensitivity in nipples. The nausea is the biggest flag because headaches and sensitivity can occur in anyone for a bunch of reasons, but we all know it's generally unusual to feel nausea "out of nowhere."

These will most likely be noticed even if you happen to be taking T. T isn't an effective contraceptive by medical standards, and it won't block these things either.
