First laser session

Yeah, the unshaveable stubble is the stuff that's going to fall out very soon.  It's really annoying for a week or so, but then it's gone for good!

Most of that unshaveable stubble seems to be gone now, and my face already feels very smooth. The last time it felt like this was probably when I was a teenager.
There is still some stubble and a shadow as well, but hopefully the next 5 sessions will get rid of it for good.

I'm going back this week, likely Thursday for session #3. I have moderate re growth but it is thinner. Upper lip is stubborn though.

Like you, my upper lip is my most stubborn area.  The rest of my face was clear after 3 sessions, but I had to have two more done on my upper lip.  This last one only had a handful of hairs visible, so hopefully, I'm done with laser.  I haven't had to shave in a couple of months; I think it's time to toss the men's razor.  Yay!

As for what remains after a session, what I do is let the hair break the surface of the skin, then just rub it a little with my finger.  In most cases, the hair will come out, but if it doesn't, I just try again the next day.  That's worked really well for me; Much better than when I used to shave after a session or when I would use regular exfoliation.

I gotta try that. I used to spend late nights pulling them. They would slide out easy but it got tired fast.

I was told by the technician that upper lip would hurt the most, but it didn't hurt any more than my jawline and lower neck. Which was still pretty bad, though. The hair growth in each of these parts is more or less similar, too.

Well I'll give you my two cents.

I personally am not a fan of laser since for me after 11 treatments all the hair grew back (Though maybe I was just unlucky?) and overall felt like I had just wasted my time and money.

In my opinion Electrolysis is the best option (With a skilled practitioner (very important)) and I would recommend it if you have one available to you nearby.

Down side is it is more time consuming, expensive (debatable) and if you think laser is bad pain wise this will likely be worse. However the benefit of complete removal was just too good for me personally. 1 year and 60 electrolysis hrs later and I'm pretty much hair free (Vellus hair aside).

Just do what ever works best for you girl .

I couldn't find any electrolysis places nearby, so I thought I'll start with laser and see how it goes. 2 weeks after my first session and the hair growth seems to be lower than before.
I'll see how it is over the next 6 months, and then decide if I need to do something more.

I wasn't going to say anything on this post because I have a slight bias but when I saw Paige's post I thought I might chime in. Laser is a great option if you are a good candidate, meaning you have dark hair and light colored skin. Typically after 10 sessions of laser you will have gone as far as you can with laser. After 10 sessions you could be wasting your money and your only solution will be electrolysis. Which is the only method that is approved by the FDA as 100% permanent hair removal.  A very small percentage of laser clients will get what we call in the business as laser rebound. Laser rebound is a stimulation of the follicles which can induce dormant follicles to grow hair, giving you more hair than what you started with. No one really knows why this happens but when it does it can be catastrophic. Like I said earlier it is a very small percentage of people that this will happen to, less than 1%. Once you have finished with your laser treatments many will need to finish with electrolysis. Not all electrologist are created equal. Electrologist's who are using the modality of thermolysis (HF/RF) a good insulated probe (needle) and a modern machine will give you the joy of being hair free. Most full beards that have not been treated with laser can be permanently removed within 150-300 hrs. Always do your research.

I'm actually hoping they have one later in the day. Its at 11:30 and being on a Friday that means I'm going to want straight over to Chipotle. I've made Chipotle Fridays a thing.

I've had 4 sessions on my entire face and another 4 on just the chin and upper lip. Had my last session on my upper lip 14 days ago... I had like 12 random hairs left? Mostly at the corners of my upper lip... They fell off now but I have like 4 little dots from hair trapped in the skin -.- its really annoying, too short to pluck them out and they're not growing... Just kinda there...

I've noticed a significant difference from before and after laser, but I was an ideal candidate (fair skin, dark hair). My main problem is that despite having no hairs growing, there's still a blue/green tint under some lights... Ironically, under weak lighting. In bright areas and under natural light, there's no hint of anything remotely resembling a shadow... I wonder what it is... It could be dormant follicles but I'm not sure that's it, perhaps it's skin pigmentation from laser? It does seem to get better the more time passes after an appointment..
Ironic how it looks worse after a session rather than before... It could also just be shadow from muscle on the upper lip? Not sure... People say I have no shadow at all, but I kinda see that tint in my bathroom... Then again. The corners of my mouth seem to have that too and I never had any hair growing there lol

mazal tov! The first Hair removal session feels very liberating although painful. i am actually considering laser after I get another job. My stylist said she had an olive-skinned client who was able to do laser without problems with burning the skin. I still have worries about permanency though and I'm used to electro and going thrugh the most painful part right now.

This is working for me now, more than 2 weeks later. I must have shed a lot of the dead hair earlier as well but today many more seem to be coming off as I rub them.

People say I have no shadow at all, but I kinda see that tint in my bathroom...

Maybe you're just being too hard on yourself. I think others hardly notice these things as much.

It did hurt like he'll, but I just kept reminding myself what was on the other side of that pain. I feel so smooth now!
