To those who care and those who don't for that matter.  New years will soon be upon us and with that comes the inevitable making of New Years resolutions.  So who is going to make one and what will it be.  Did you make one in the past and did you keep it?

I did make one last year - to lose weight. Lost about 30 pounds and kept 20 off. This year, I have a friend who's just bought a gym and will give me a private change room with my own key (shared just with her and her husband), so that removed that objection to making a resolution to get my butt to the gym more often.

I should quit smoking too, but I don't want to make that a resolution.

I never made any New Year resolutions and I certainly don't plan on starting now.  If I don't make any, I can't break them.

Being mostly perfect and with no discernable bad habits, I vow to be big trouble next year  >:D >:D >:D

;D Actually, if you ask the people around me, I've already been big trouble  :o

A quieter year would be nice

That's just the thing that I'm hoping for.  This past year has been pretty tumultuous so like you Dawn, a nice quiet year would be nice.

Hi Steph,
Don't make resolutions and never have. It's too easy to break them and then I would feel like I let myself down (failed). That's no-way to start a new year.

But I would like to be more helpful, kind and considerate of other people.

:)

On New Years I don't make resolutions so much as realease the past. At our church we have something called the burning bowl ceremony. We write down a list of stuff in our lives that we want to release and throw it in a pot and it's caught on fire. I like that a lot better than resolutions.

Drop the 20 pounds I've put on sitting on my butt so much.  :P

Quit smoking, again. Hadn't smoked in a long time until recently. So, quit all-over.

Last years try to see the best in people. Harder than you first think.

I made a resolution the year before last and that was to get down to 220 lbs and I actually got down to 207 my lowest. I have only put on since that resolution 13 lbs. Last year, I did what Steph. and Dawn did, and that was have a quiet year. For the most part it was a very nice year, got really settled into my new life and went to Hawaii. Now, for this year, I want to lose more weight. Will be going back on Atkins right after the first. Pat(partner) and I will be going on this diet together, but first going to party on the coast.
Merry Christmas love Sheila

Last year I made a resolution to lose weight.  Loss 40 pounds and so far I have kept them off.

I have two resolutions for next year:  One, lose more weight, I want to fit into the cutest size 12 skirt I just bought, and Two, begin therapy.

I could always use a few less pounds myself.  My goal (not a resolution, but a goal) is to get down to about 140.  I'm at 178 now, and that's down from 215 last June.

The resolution part of that will be this:  I resolve to get out and walk more, without using the cold as an excuse, and / or use my friend's treadmill.

I also resolve to start HRT (have a blood screening appointment set for the 5th already, so that shouldn't be too hard).

I resolve to quit sitting on the fence and march confidently forward.  Or at least march forward.

I resolve to be kinder to people, even when they go out of their way to be rude to me.  I'm not here to judge, I am only to act as a witness for Karma :)

I would resolve a few more things, but let's stick to the basics for now.  After all, a resolution doesn't have to be seasonal.

While I have never been one to make a resolution, as often they are too easy to break, like a lot of other girls, I could always loose a little weight.

Now at about 180, my goal this year is to loose about 30 pounds or so, and would like to get to the 150 range.

Bad thing about this is that my clothes would not fit, and would have to have a lot of alterations done, or go buy a new wardrobe.  But guess that is small price to pay if you can get to where you want.

Happy new Year everyone

I have never made one. So for all of you at Susans. Here is my very first resolution
To find that one perfect outfit that fits just right the first time you try it on.
Thought I start off with baby steps. Don't think I can give up smoking.

I'm wondering Brandi,

Isn't that just an excuse to shop all year.  ::)

Can't thimk of a better resolution. Easy to keep, helps the local economy thus keeping other people employed, like sale clerks, clothing manufacturers, textile workers, etc. Plus it helps in Melissa's words, to promote "whirled peas".   ;D

My resolution is the same as last years (maybe I can fulfull it this time ;D) and thats to get a job!  I am not lazy, but am way shy and get scared at the thought of going out and applying for jobs.  I always networked in the past but since I moved to Europe I dont know anyone really, so have to do it the old fashion way.  Brrrrr.  Its the scariest thing I ever thought about.  And when I speak danish, people give me a cute little patronizing smile like you would a child learning to talk.  Such a hard language  :P
