Hey guys, figured I'd make a post about getting surgery through Dr. Scott Mosser in San Francisco, as I haven't come across as much information about him in regards to top surgery as, say, Dr. Garramone.

I called his office and scheduled a consultation sometime in mid March (I forget the exact day), but I was scheduled for not long after that. I had a "virtual" consultation with him on April 1. That is to say, I spoke with him over the phone. I don't live that far away from SF (approx 3hrs) but he was happy enough to do it over the phone. Prior to the appointment, I had to fill out the standard patient history forms and email the office those along with photos of my chest at various angles.
Dr. Mosser was very courteous and professional when I spoke with him, and his main priority was to identify what my goals were and make sure I had realistic expectations for my chest. He requires a letter of recommendation, for surgery. I am not in therapy, and started HRT using Informed Consent through Planned Parenthood. I spoke to my doctor there, and she was happy to write me a letter and Dr. Mosser accepted that.
I am going with the double incision method. Today, I recieved my quote for the cost of surgery. It totals $9,665.25, that's including anesthesia, hospital fees, etc.

I will update further as I move along in this process. I am shooting for surgery in June-July.

Congrats!
I was just recently going to call him for an appointment for my top surgery this week! So glad to finally see a post about Dr. Mosser for once.

I do have a question about your quote. Are you being covered under insurance or are you paying that all out of pocket? My only concern right now for myself is finding out how much my insurance (United Healthcare) will cover it, but I don't really want to have to go through the embarrassment of having to cancel if they don't cover enough (I can only pay 3-5k out of pocket as of now).

Thanks, and again congrats!!!
I'm also hoping to get my surgery during July!

I don't know if it matters depending on the state you live in but I live in Salt Lake City and have United Healthcare.  I went through a month long fight with them to cover it but did win!  It was about $6000 here and my plan is 80/20.

I have tricare (military insurance) and they don't cover any surgeries considered SRS
