so it did get red after a bit, but was told what to do and what not to do, i have some SPF 40 sport sun screen that I will need for at least a week. There was one part near the chin that sent me into overload, one painful hornet nest sting vs all the mini bee stings.

That is great.

My upper lip and ears were the worst followed by lips.

Wow that looks great. I was fuzzy on laser over electrolysis, but it's so much faster. After seeing this, I think you made up my mind.

Shawn Sunshine

Ok so I don't meant to be a sad sap here....  but I have heard warnings from the research I did anywhere charging that little is probably using an old laser...  it should hurt like a mother, like I mean it should feel like someone stapling your face.... I have gone through 4 treatments and with numbing cream and morphine it still hurt lol...so either you had a really old laser or you had a really really low setting which wouldn't be effect or you have little to no hair......and I don't want say this to be mean...I have just seen people spend thousands on this for it to do nothing because they were being ripped off.... :-( if it's just because you have little to no hair I am really happy for you :-)

Everyone's pain tolerance is different. I don't mind using an epilator even in sensitive areas, but I've noticed a lot of girls just can't handle it. I do believe I have a slightly higher pain tolerance than normal. From what I've heard, the skin turning red is an indication its working perfectly.

Granted I haven't started yet. I have my first consolation next Friday.

No your putting a laser to the skin will turn it red but you have to get it hot enough to kill the folicals so weaker lasers will turn the skin red still but not heat up the folic enough to kill them

its at 40 (which is a medium level setting) they actually went up from when we started at first. I have lots of hair on my chin and mustache, which hurt like hornet stings vs small bee stings in other areas. I had also taken 4 excedrin prior, but yeah we may have to go up in strength.

Price doesn't mean anything. I pay $75 per treatment in New York no less and they use a pretty new looking laser machine with a colour touch screen with YAG and another laser. I think it's the Candela Gentlemax pro. They have others for lighter skin too. It does hurt but not as much since I use anesthetic cream. After each treatment the hair pretty much falls off in a week or two.

I use prescription grade numbing cream and price really does matter if your paying less then 150 a session you should be asking alot of questions about how old the equipment is....I get mine done in a dermatology office by seattle...where there lasers are less then a year old.... I am not trying to talk down to anyone or attack anyone but there are so many companies out there ripping off girls like us and I want to make sure we make the best use of our money because we have better things to spend it on then laser:-)

They should also be going over your face twice once at a lower setting then once at a much higher setting

The place I go to is a school, so presumably the machine has had a lot of flashes.

However the results are good, the hair falls off easily and the operator is skilled (and she's also trans). I DO NOT let students work on me. IMO the places that charge a lot such as the mall outfits and groupon places (except dr or dermatology) tend to do an inferior job.

All I'm saying is don't let a low price ward you off.
