I'm wondering if there are any cheaper alternatives to the Lola Jake tape kit for my Reelmagik?  The tape kit's $75.00!  PLUS shipping's an extra $15.00.

I was trying to google around tonight plastic liners, etc. but I have no idea where to start.  Does anyone have any suggestions for both alternatives to the liner and glue? I wonder if I could use my Factor II glue to attach the liner or if that wouldn't be permanent enough?

Thanks!

Bi-face tape with a silicone prosthesis

414-543-1002 Medical Art Resources, Inc. info@medicalartresources.com

Preparing Your Skin and Your Prosthesis
1. Repeatedly practice positioning your prosthesis without adhesive to assure accurate placement.
2. Wash and thoroughly dry your hands.
3. Find a comfortable position with good light and a mirror. You may need special magnification
mirrors or angled mirrors to help you visualize the area. Eventually you will place the prosthesis with
ease without even looking, but initially good lighting and mirrors help.
4. Be sure your skin and prosthesis are oil-free by gently wiping with rubbing alcohol.

Adhering Your Prosthesis
1. Use Secure as an initial layer to "prime" the surface for the bi-face tape.
2. Apply a thin layer using a cotton swab or small brush. If your prosthesis is fairly large you will need
to work quickly so that the adhesive does not dry before you apply the prosthesis.
3. Layer the bi-face tape covering as much surface as possible with each piece. Trim carefully while the
paper backing is on the tape. Layers of tape may overlap slightly without adverse effects. Apply one
piece, trim, remove backing, then apply the next piece until the necessary surface area is covered.
4. Using a mirror, carefully position and press your prosthesis onto your skin to assure good contact.

Removing Your Prosthesis
1. Your prosthesis should be removed from your skin on a daily basis to keep tissues healthy and to
maintain hygiene, unless your physician advises you otherwise. This is done by grasping the thickest
edge of your prosthesis and gently removing it very slowly so as not to tear the delicate edges or
irritate your skin. Try to keep the tape on the prosthesis.
2. The advantage of the tape is that it can often be preserved for more than one day's use. Place the
prosthesis in a covered container overnight, and then re-apply in the morning.
3. When it is time to change the tape, run the prosthesis under warm water and roll the tape off with
your fingers. Do not try to remove the Secure residue. After three or four times using this
application most patients report that the Secure layer is no longer necessary.
4. Clean your prosthesis with a fragrance-free, dye-free dish soap such as Palmolive Pure + Clear and
warm water. You should use rubbing alcohol or Quik Care foamed alcohol to clean the prosthesis at
least once a week. If you wear an oculofacial prosthesis avoid soaking the ocular portion in alcohol.
5. Store your prosthesis in a safe place away from the reach of curious pets.

Skin Care- Follow your physician's recommendations.
1. Wash with soap and warm water and a textured cloth to remove any residue. If your skin remains
tacky, a mild adhesive remover can be used (Detachol or Beta Solv). Apply a small amount to fingers
and gently massage onto sticky skin. Allow a minute for remover to work, then gently wipe away
adhesive residue.
2. Wash skin with soap and warm water. Follow your physician's instructions for any additional skin

The only problem being that the recommended supplier no longer carries the exact tape mentioned in the guide. Bummer.
