Hey guys,

I"m familiar with these forums but haven't signed up until now. i'm 19 and am FTM. I turn 20 this year and would like to start hormones around my birthday. I tried to come out to my mom but I only got as far as telling her I'm attracted to women before she ignored me and left me (literally ran away from me and wouldn't speak to me when I told her which was while we were walking around our neighborhood) I had cut my hair short after my 18th birthday but my mom freaked out and made me leave the house for a while because she couldn't bear seeing me with short hair. I'm not fortunate to have supportive parents but I'm tired of feeling bad and I'm ready to start living my life the way I want to.  :)

The main things to remember in life are Love, Kindness, Understanding and Respect - Always make forward progress

Superficial fanny kissing friends are a dime a dozen, a TRUE FRIEND however is PRICELESS

Welcome to Susan's,Wheeler. It's a lot for a parent to digest that child is different from what society says they should be. Give them time and answer any questions that they may have.

Welcome! Take a look through the FTM board - lots of great resources there for people just starting to transition.

Oftentimes it takes parents a while to come around to things. They think they've raised one person, and all of a sudden you're telling them that you're not that person. Some take it better than others, but there are bound to be lots of questions, confusion, and some discomfort as they get used to the change.

Stick around and do some reading. Many, many people have shared their experiences with their folks here. You might find something that helps you.
