Tomorrow 25 April is ANZAC Day. It is 100 years since the soldiers of Australia and New Zealand stormed the beaches of Gallipoli and were slaughtered by a brave Turkish Army who were defending their land.

In Australia, New Zealand and Turkey it is commemorated as a day when young men and women laid down their lives for their countries.

It is the Day when the ANZAC spirit, that so typifies Australians and New Zealanders, was born.

We should remember that a number of those brave people would have been trans* and unable to ever express themselves.

I do not commemorate war. But I shall acknowledge the bravery of all men and women who serve their country.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Indeed Jenny...

As an ex Brit (pommy) I acknowledge and commend the Anzac forces that made a significant impact to the WW1 campaign, and all those that have laid their lives since, WW2, Vietnam, Afghanistan etc. regardless of politics and any personal or community beliefs.

I am Australian and proud of the spirit and "can do" attitude of the Australian ethos, my home of choice!

Now I am feeling all emotional again!

Tks Cindy
