FFS with Dr Di Maggio

It has been quite a long way and a lot of work before being able to decide who's going to carry out the first session of FFS. After having studied quite a lot of before and afters from well-renowned surgeons, I shortlisted the following surgeons:
1. Di Maggio
2. Bart v d Veen
3. Facial team
4. Ousterhout/De Braly
5. Dr Spiegel

I received an assessment from Bart, but as he was unwilling to answer my questions afterwards I decided to eliminate Bart from my list.
I had a personal consultation with facial team, but as I wasn't satisfied with the outcome I eliminated them from shortlist as well.
I talked with Spiegel on Skype and received a proposal with a pricequote afterwards. All though Spiegel provided good answers to all my questions he is to conservative to my liking and far to expensive.
Further on I talked with De Braly on phone, but as I wasn't satisfied with the outcome of the conversation and he proved to be far too expensive I eliminated him from my shortlist also.
Finally I had an ongoing  conversation with Dr Di Maggio for several months. He was able to answer all my questions in detail to my satisfaction, was very committed and showed great concern.  During the process we were able to work out what suited me most as first step of FFS, which is forehead, brow lift, rhinoplasty, thyroid cartilage reduction and possibly blepharoplasty and midface-pexia.
Di Maggio has delivered consistent results and has an aggressive approach with very good results. He was also less expensive than the US-alternatives. Dr Di Maggio became my choice and I'm having surgery with him and his team the 25th of June this year.
I intend to keep you all updated on my experiences and if you have contributions please feel free to do so.

I had FFS with MDM in January and was up and sight seeing in a week after surgery. General awareness helps for safety, but mostly just stick to the public tourist areas and you should be fine. Do not count on people there to know any English aside from his team.

Arrived in Buenos Aires Yesterday morning. I spent most of the day by doing supplementary tests and in the end had a long consultation with Dr Di Maggio and another of the surgeons in the team. During this conversation we went through all the procedures and aggreed upon in detail what was going to happen and why. Dr Di Maggio and his team seams very dedicated and professional to me and I'm very happy with my choise of surgeon. Tomorrow is the last day before surgery on Thursday and I intend to make necessary preparations in order to spend the next week in the appartment here in Belgrano. The neighbourhood is quiet and nice, but the traffic is horrendous as told in advance. Buenos Aires is a huge and very interesting city and I hope to spend some time exploring it after I've recovered some from the surgery.

Closing in now with just over 12 hours left before surgery. Claudia is picking me up 06:30 am tomorrow, scheduled start for surgery is 08:30 am.
I've spent the day trying to relax and prepare for one week inside the appartment. As I'm travelling alone I've arranged for a person to help me out 4 times a day the first three days after I'm back in the appartment on Friday. I feel pretty calm, but has growing expectations of what is to come out of the surgery. In addition I'm uncertain about the level of pain involved afterwards. Nobody will ever now for sure before the pain is due to appear. The last major surgery for me was SRS for 11 years ago, but in a way that felt more invading and different than FFS. I've come a long way mentally since then and I guess that's what gives me some advantage now. In addition I strongly feel that what is going to happen tomorrow is a result of very thourough preparation that has brought me to the one person who was able to fullfill my needs. Accidently, he and his team happen to be in Buenos Aires and that's why I'm here also.
Right now I can't do anything ells than to get a good nights sleep and hope that the team who is going to perform surgery tomorrow will have had a good nights sleep and are fit for fight as well.
Tomorrow is going to be one of the most important days in my life.

I was back in the appartment after spending the first night at the hospital. Experinced a bit of nausea, but that's gone now. Today I'm on my feet and that feels good. Got rid of the nosepakkers today and that was a relief. Still a bit swollen arøund the eyes after blepharoplasty on upper and lower eyelid. As I'm travelling alone I've engaged a nurse to come and check up on me four times a day and that has been a good solution.

Several things made me decide upon Dr Di Maggio and his team.

My approach was to address the the features of the face that would benefit me mostly.
In my case that was the upper part(forehead, eyes and noce) of the face and the addams-apple.
I may do some surgery later on but don't intend to do more than I feel I have to do. My approach is a minimalistic one.
Having concluded on that one I started my search to find a surgeon that had a history of good, consistent results over a lengthy period of time, had an aggresive approach when it comes to the forehead, but with a natural results.
I shortlisted Spiegel, de Braly/Ousterhout, Bart, facial team and Di Maggio.
I did skype with Spiegel, de Braly and Di Maggio and had personal consultation with facial team in Brussel.
Spiegel and de Braly/Ousterhout was way more expensive than the others and I didn't find any reasons for that as the could not produce markedbly better results than the others.
Speigel is also a bit to conservative to my liking and De Braly has not produced enough consistent results yet in my opinion-at least I couldn't find any. I erased both from my short list.
The consultation with facial team was very useful. It was interesting that they couldnt explaine to me what they wanted to do in detail and why. I didnt even get it in writing afterwards as promised. Mu confidence in them vaned considerably due to his. They went of the shortlist.
Bart didn't want to explain in detail what he wanted to do and why-just sent me a short qoute and backed off when I started asking questions. He went off the shortlist.
I contacted Dr Di Maggio in december and have been pestering him with a lot of questions over a period of 4 months. He responded them all brilliantly. Further on he has a aggresive and natural approach when it comes to foreheads and overall natural, good results. During our discussions we added a midface-pexi and in the last consultation here in Buenos Aires we supplemented with a filler over my upper lip in order to create a better expression overall. After arrival her i  Buenos Aires I've been very well taken care of. My inpression of Dr Di Maggio and his team is very good. It's a bit early to report back on results just two days after the surgery. but I will do so later on.
My advise is to decide upon what you need to do and start searching for a surgeon that can produce results to your liking. Have and open mind and do a thourough search. Investing in some skype-calls with surgeons is a good idea.

Yesterday I got an incredibly detailed mail from T-Change and Dr. Rossi about what he wants to do and why. Haven't gotten a better explanation from him than anybody else. Really amazing. Lol, it took me literally 20 minutes to read. Right here in the Forum there is a Blog which says very positive things about Dr. Rossi and his Team.
In any case Dr. DiMaggio is very high on my list because of your Info and also because a friend of mine from Germany went to have her FFS done with Dr. DiMaggio last year March. Just contacted her again last Wednesday and she said that she wasn't only initially happy with the results, but also now after more than one year. No complication what so ever.
Dying to see a few pics from you. Hope everything goes well and you do recover very quick.

Important day as it is three days after surgery and time to remove the bandage from the head. My first oppurtunity to actually see what has been done to my forehead.
Dr Navarro came by at 9 am, removed the bandage and said everything looked fine.
I know this is early, but they've really been aggressive and removed a lot of my previous big forehead-just like what we aggreed upon-close to 2 cm of the horisontal projection.
Still have my nosecast on for a few more days so I wont be able to get a full impression yet, but on a whole I think much have come down quite pretty so far. The adams-apple is also reduced a lot am I'm very happy for that as well. The voice is starting to return more and more, but I am still a bit hoarse.
Eyes are a bit swollen but developing fine-I'm really looking forward to have a view of them when they've settled. Not much pain actually..just a bit of strain at the forehead which is natural. Been up on my feet for two days now and got my appetite back again today-which is fine as I do need to stock up on healthy food to recover more quickly.
Actually, I'm really surprised to be on my feet just two days after surgery. I had SRS 11 years ago and allthough it's more invasive I was down in bed for a week.
Aftercare is brilliant and I could't be better taken care of with Dr Di Maggio and several of his teammembers more or less stand by on the phone all the time.
In a few days the nosecast will be off and I will get a better view of my new facial expression-really excited to experience that.
Anyway, it's important to be patient as the expression will change over a lengty period of time and I guess I will get a very good impression in 9-12 months time of whats to be the final expression.

Dear Greta,
I have also compared results and need fulfillment and have chosen Di Maggio due to several reasons. After considering him as well as Spiegel and Facial Team I felt confident enough by watching his results and so many satisfied patients, some of which were really complex as regards forehead and orbital remodelling. Apart from getting natural effects, I found he is the only one who changes your look expression.
Besides, and last but not least,  the price is - though not the cheapest- convenient, especially regarding his excellence and the medical centre he has moved to (Sanatorio Finochietto), which is unique in Latin America, according to what I found out.
That's about all for the moment.

Being able to finally shower and wash my hair Yesterday was divine. The nurse I hired to take care of me the first 3-4 days after surgery did her last check in the evening Yesterday and everyting was fine. I couldn't have made it without her these critical 3-4 days after surgery. So, if you're considering doing this make sure you get someone to help you out, at least initially, to be on the safe side. Either a companion you bring along, or better a professional nurse. Pamela, my nurse, also had extensive contact with Dr Di Maggio during the entire period and that was very reassuring. I think we managed to stop a growing inflammation aroud the eyes by this approach.
Big issues for me now is to get the swelling down around my eyes and I hope to get there within 7-10 days after surgery-that is by the end of this week. My voice is the last big issue as I've gotten very hoarse. Can't talk very long actually before it fails. At least I can talk so I guess it's just a matter of patience and not trying to force the voice through.
There has been a huge change in my face and even before the nose-casket is removed tomorrow, I'm very pleased with the results. I'll post some photos later this week(?) when the sweeling hopefully has come down.
