I was just wondering if people understand if you don't look pretty. I took a cab today and I got a cab driver that picked me up before when I was in make up and a nice dress and argued with me on whether I was a man because the cab order was for a man. today I didn't have make up on , but I had a dress on and when I got into the cab he kept staring at me. I know I'm not the supper model without make up , but I have some feminine features due to HRT, but without make up I'm definitely on the verge of not very attractive woman. He kept staring at me then started talking to me very pleasantly and we had a great conversation about India where he's from. I even practiced my female voice and I think I found a good method. soft and slightly higher pitch.  I was just wondering if you think more people are trying harder to be nice to people that might not totally fit the perfect mold.

I think most decent people are friendly and don't care if we're trans, or if we're good looking. People are friendly to cis women who don't meet conventional beauty standards (though I really believe all women are beautiful).

I seem to get more looks when I'm made up than when I'm in "don't care" mode.  I think it's an age thing - most women my age are past the point of caring, and it makes me stand out when I'm using makeup.   

I'm not changing a thing based on those observations, cause, really, I don't care what they think.

Yeah, I think most people will still be nice and sometimes, still give you a compliment. Although a lot of times, it does bug me as I know they're full of it.

What's to "understand"? How is it any of their business?

There's a HUGE distinction between being pretty and blending with the cis population; I had a major revelation after a few months of watching people in the mall, coffee shops, etc. Most cis women aren't super pretty, either, esp. when they're not all gussied up and just going about their business. I don't think I'm pretty, but I'm taken for cis, and that will have to suffice. After all, I'm a middle-aged woman in a society that typically doesn't value women for their looks or sex appeal past the first blush of youth; a cis woman my age who looks average is going to be treated politely but largely ignored, too.

Frankly speaking, it does matter, at least to some degree.

People here say that Ha Ri Su would not have been welcomed if she was not so much pretty. And the stereotype that she imprinted in people's mind here is that m2f transsexual should be extremely beautiful, more than ordinary people.
