Yeah, Gina.  Her wikipedia entry doesn't even include this story.  You'd think it would, right?  But it doesn't.

On a website, people (not her) claim that she was badly beaten but the incident was somehow kept under wraps in an effort to "save her career from going down hill".  I don't know...it just seems possible if this is indeed the case, but at the same time, everyone in the fashion world knows she is TS, correct?  so how exactly will this incident ruin her career as a model?

The police aren't always above brushing things under the rug. Brutal, messy murders of transwomen are often not investigated and deemed suicide. you'd think the story would come out anyways with her being a celebrity and all, but who knows?

That's really interesting Gina.  So, if this story is indeed fabricated, the reason would be money?  Geez, amazing what people can do for "a few" bucks.  I really hope that nothing happened to her, but at the same time I hate to think that it was all a lie.

Having watched the series and the show's finale last night, and being not altogether unfamiliar with negative press myself, I decided I would try to find an email address or some other means to contact Miriam and offer her... I'm not sure what exactly...some words of comfort, I suppose, a reaching out of sorts.  Anyways, I came across this forum, and I also came across this article:

Well, I think that this hasn't happened,I searched the net and the olny I can find is this topic and the video..if somethinhg had really been happened, woludn't there be more informations in the net??I think it may be just rumors!!the only thing i found was only these nothing else!if it is rumords,and i hope so,why??I just wonder

I googled all sorts of topics that included "violence on/against transsexuals" and "Miraim Rivera" and could find no new reports or even Wiki results that inluded her being thrown from a fourth-story window/balcony except for the TransGriot' blog-spot and two other blogs that got their info from TransGriot.

Given her celebrity one would imagine that if the event occurred in NYC that the Daily News would at least publish a small article about it with some label like "Deceiving T-girl Lands Hard" or some such BS. Nothing at all other than those three blogs.

I'd be curious to know, if it fact it was fabricated. Lack of news reporting doesn't make it fake (it makes it more sad imo). Can anyone confirm it was fabricated?

Shocking violence if it did happen, and if it was not trans related...that's even more scary. Legs and arms broken??

I have no idea whether or not it was fabricated. And, as you said, if it did occur the lack of coverage when someone comes out of a 40' high window or balcony and lands on the sidewalk is certainly problematic, especially if it had to do with her operational status.

But, even Lynn Conway's site, which is pretty good about discovering violence against us and posting it has nothing from 2007 that mentions this. It would seem like it would be 'big news' around the community and even the country -- sorta like the Rock Hudson has AIDS reports were in the early 80s.

One would think it would also play large in the "Day of Remembrance" columns, etc.

An ex-member...Regina (or Gina "as we all knew her"..who posted under this thread)...provided several links which confirmed that this story had indeed been  fabricated.  Too bad Gina deleted most of her posts when she decided to leave Susan's!
