Dont' know where to put this topic, thought this would be a good fit. Was just wondering how many of you out there, wondered what would you do if there was a societal collapse? for short term, medium term, long term, and permanent? strategies.
Short term defined as 2 weeks, medium term would be defined as 1 month, and long term for a year, and permanent, well, its forever.
I know in Southern California we deal with earthquakes, and wildfires, and crazy weather in the Midwest, just one of these "what if" topics.

FYI, I keep about 6 plastic jugs, full of water, filled with 5 gallons of water at all time, and about 2 week of canned food, and 6 months worth of hrt meds.
I'm also former military USMC MP, and have a good grasp of first aid, I would try to organize with some neighbors a neighborhood watch team for our street, maybe more, also have a good grasp of tactical infantry tactics and defensive/offensive perimeter control.

To know thyself is to be blessed, but to know others is to prevent supreme headaches

Former law enforcement. I'm also a member of several emergency preparedness forums, and it's interesting to see their take on preparedness for trans people. I live just outside of Washington DC, so we have hurricanes on a yearly basis, a tornado every few years, and are pretty much constantly on a terrorism alert.

As far as general survival and getting through emergencies goes, I have ~3 months of food and ~6 months of water on hand at home for myself, one roommate, and the dog. Generator, fuel, first aid supplies, and other assorted goodies if we need to camp out for a while. My truck has 4WD and is usually at a full or half tank of gas if we need to head out into the boonies to stay with relatives until things blow over. In addition to being very comfortable with hand-to-hand combat, we have several other options for self defense if necessary.

Short term, we stay put. Medium, we stay put. In the long term, we've made arrangements with some relatives to head out to their farm. We'd potentially head out there earlier if they requested it. I purposefully keep my neighbors in the dark about the things we have and our skill sets, because they are not the kind of people who want to contribute and collaborate - they would just show up and expect to be taken care of.

More complicated for a lot of us is the need for medical care. I have about 5 months of hormones and associated supplies for that on hand. In an ideal situation, I'd have a years worth or more (not sure about the shelf life of testosterone, will need to look into it). I believe MTF needs are a little more dire in this case; I think there are more revertible effects of estrogen than testosterone (someone chime in if I am wrong). I can only get so much medication in one go at the doctors because testosterone is a controlled substance. It's better now that I'm on injections, as these seem to last longer. But still a concern for me, as I wouldn't want anything to interfere with me medically.

Won't go into details but suffice to say I'm prepared.

I need to find a good bug out location though but I have enough firepower hopefully to stay put.

Best thing to do in my experience in the military and going through personal disasters, is teamwork. Yes if your alone, tough cookies, you make do. First step is get to know your friends and loved ones and know who can be counted before a personal disaster or when the ballon goes up, lol. Who can you buddy up? Without a buddy at least, who will guard your six? Two set of eyes is better than one[emoji4]

Of course there is alot more to it then the above, but that is the barebones basics, the rest can be worked out with others [emoji41]
