I want to ask for some current product suggestions that you have had success with in regrowing your thinning and receding hairline (temples).

I have scrubbed old threads and found that Redken Intra Force and Nioxin were very helpful. Unfortunately, the Redken line is discontinued & the Nioxin line is now made in Mexico by a company called Wella (and apparently not the same).

So, I'm frustrated. I want to add a shampoo or something similar to my regimen. I'm not really wanting to use rogaine because I don't want to have to use it forever & the side effects are a little sketch.

I currently take: finasteride (proscar) and hrt.

I'm ready for your miraculous suggestion! [emoji5]️

I am currently not on hrt at all but hoping for something to help. That something is castor oil and it may help and if it doesn't not to expensive and it cant hurt either. Another one I have seen is using eggs to help assume add some protein. I do realise these are not super booster magical aids but if they help why not of not to expensive. Fyi the castor oil could be added to conditioner just a drop and use every couple of days or something like that. Worst thing it will do is improve your scalp. Just have to wash it out if it weighs your hair down too much.

I myself pray it will help and eventually with spiro blocking the DHT I might actually have hair one day. If its too late for me so be it but have to try:)

Hi Sophie,

I sometimes use regenepure shampoo it has the ingredient ketoconazole which has been show to have a weak dht blocking effect so I could reduce dht at the scalp level and may help with regrowth. It also has a bunch of other ingredients that supposedly help with hair grown. Its worth going a try. It also get rid of dandruff so even if it doesn't work for regrown its still good if you have dandruff.

you could add come biotin and zinc to your supplements as they will help extend the growing cycle of your hair and should help thicken your hair (this treatment is considered effective for women with thinning hair so since your on HRT and a T blocker it should help you) but I don't know about the temples and regrowth in general as the rule of thumb when it comes to hair loss is that once its gone it probably not coming back.

When I started I had really thinning hair in the front and at the crown.  Last May I started taking finasteride and using the minoxidil and Redken Intraforce.  And just for good measure I also took biotin supplements daily.

When I started with HRT in December, my insurance changed and all of a sudden the finasteride was really expensive. I ran out of the shampoo, and I also just got out of the habit of using the minoxidil.  So since December I've only had the Sprio and Estradiol.

I can honestly say that finasteride and the other things did help...some.  But the dramatic change happened with Spiro and Estradiol.  I haven't had regrowth along the temples, but the hair in front and the crown is just as thick as the rest of my hair now.  It's pretty amazing.

Also, they tell men that the hair loss will resume if they stop using minoxidil and/or finasteride, because they still have the testosterone that creates DHT and destroys the hair.  For us, I don't think it's as much of an issue to stop taking them.  In fact, my experience has been the opposite.

I'm on Spiro and Estradiol and the first physical effect was my scalp tingling in all the bald patches. There has been much regrowth since then. All my little baby hairs have begun growing and some have already become thicker. I have regrowth on the crown, hairline u area and on the temples. It isn't nuch yet as it is mostly still very blond and thin. But it is a start.

I just can't wait until the rest is long enough for me to use hair accessories to effect a lady combover. I think I can pull it off without tipping my hand.
