They're still there, now that they're not stickies anymore they'll fall to their actual level of interest, and the stuff people are interested in will rise to the top. I like it.

I think it was because of too many stickies in some areas cutting down on the available menu. As some said you can bookmark your favourites.

I unstickied them, they should have never been sticky in the first place. When half my new posts were red (sticky), something was wrong.

+1 for that. When the whole front page of a section is stickies you can't see any traffic. Putting a sticky pin on a suicide hotline topic says "This is what's important to us" and that's a good thing.

Sticky pins on "Everyone look at me!" topics, not so much.
