Does VFS help I'm prove resonance?

I am not really sure it does. For me it feels easier to use the resonance, but its not automatically happening. Apparently at times I slide into "old phonation patterns" which actually lower my pitch significantly. Yeson will provide exercises aiming to train a female resonance because a VFS-changed voice will just work a lot better with the right resonance. In fact using a more male resonance pattern hurts my throat immediately, so I  know when I am doing it wrong. Jessie wrote me back, that I definitely should train resonance and use it. So I think VFS itself does not really change the resonance, but it makes it easier to use one and harder to use the other.

As Anja said, no not by itself- without surgical modification of vocal tract length (uncommon as part of most VFS procedures). Dr. Thomas is the only one who offers modifications to this, and his procedure is extremely risky often not yielding patient satisfaction (his words).

What many have found with any kind of voice training or surgery: the longer you practice voluntary resonance modification the more it becomes a permanent muscle memory thing.

I am now 2 years post op from Yeson, and I consciously have to think about it in order to drop in resonance. My muscles just go to the right place now at all times. After a while it became second nature (along with several other things like prosody, word choice, and inflection during speech).

There are lots of good exercises you can do to practice, before and after a VFS procedure. Deep stealth and Kathe Perez both have good tutorials. If you are post op, make sure to follow your surgeons instructions most of all.

Hope this helps!
