I was surprised to hear that Yeson prescribes the use of clonazepam during the post op care regime. From what I can see it's classed as a drug against panic attacks and with it all the possible side effects.

It's supposedly a muscle relaxer in lieu of the Botox when the original one wears off. I'm wary of it myself. I might just get another botox shot.

Where is the botox injected? Directly into the vocal chords?

Right into the neck, I'm guessing into the vocal folds or into one of the muscles nearby. I had terrible bruising afterwards (my fault, I tensed up so hard he couldn't get the needle past my tendons on the first try) but it actually doesn't hurt much getting them, it's just unpleasant.

I had terrible effects on clonazepam and had to stop. Yeson recommended Baclofen 20mg 1 Tablet/ day or Afloqualone 20mg /day as alternatives but I wasn't prepared to risk more side effects. I thought I'd need another Botox shot but instead they recommended frequent neck massaging and lots of water.

My therapist today recommend massaging and I already drink enough water to float a ship. Relaxation of the muscles though is 50% of the solution. Were you supposed to massage yourself?

Yes, they give you four massages to do and show you how to do them in the post op exam.

Are the massages described anywhere or are they just the standard neck massages?

From what I understand, yes.

The botox is, according to my information, injected in the muscles next to the vocal chords. They do not inject it into the vocalis muscle and not into the CT muscle, both of which are what controls your pitch. My voice therapist said they probably inject it in the muscles next to the vocalis muscle which is supporting the voice.
