So today I just found out that my insurance won't cover anything related to transitioning.. not my appointments with HBHC, not my hormones, nothing. After my general doctor told me they would. After my mom told me they would. After HBHC told me they would.

My dad said it's because his insurance is grandfathered in, so they don't have to follow the new laws on transgender care.

My first appointment with HBHC is next week and my paycheck I'm getting in a few days will be $400 if I'm lucky.

The sliding scale payment HBHC has won't work for me because it doesn't base it on individual salary, it bases it on HOUSEHOLD salary.. my dad literally makes like $100k a year but he refuses to give me a dime for my transition, no matter how much I need it.

I'm just so frustrated because I want to stop DIY and get under a doctor's care and get proper hormones.. but now that seems impossible.   :(

Does anyone know how much the two or three appointments at HBHC for hormones, the blood test, and a typical one month's supply of hormones will cost.?

I tried calling them and asking but they wouldn't give me a real answer.. I was talking to patient billing inquiries but they told me they couldn't answer that.
Started HRT on 4-14-15 but it was DIY.
Started real prescribed HRT on 7-22-15 c:
