"John Oliver is the presenter of HBO's Last Week Tonight.

Last Week Tonight host John Oliver presented an amazing segment on transgender rights in the United States English comedian, who has made his name across the pond, gave an overview of how to be polite to trans people for uninitiated."

Oliver's segment was very good. If all media outlets had the same outlook we'd be well ahead in recognition.

I watched the video earlier today and I absolutely loved it~ I want to see more people with the same attitude as John Oliver about topics like these
Seventeen and strung out on confusion,
Seventeen and coming clean for the first time,
no mom and dad will never understand,
what's happening to me.

Yes, Finally! Even though he is a comedian, he does put up good points. The 'real' media news sources and op-ed types needs to see this before asking privy questions to their TG guests.

I found this video funny for a different reason.

Go back and listen to the weather guy (around 2:00).  In my humble opinion, John Oliver shouldn't really be making fun of him.

After a brief (sad that this learning experience happened on the air, but moving on...) outburst of sputtering and confusion, he says exactly the right thing, which John Oliver didn't seem to pick up on: "Okay... don't we say 'A woman', then?"

It's a great piece, and Oliver is so right about the genital questions. Frankly, I was surprised that Caitlyn Jenner answered that question, unlike the more reticent women in the clips. On the one hand, it's good for the media and public to understand that our genitals do not determine our gender; but on the other, it's really none of their business.

I loved this, just absolutely loved it :) He eloquently expressed everything I couldn't put into words.  I recently commented on a NYtimes article about Transgender Rights, and received negative and hateful comments back that I was trying to redefine what it means to be male/ female; those on the opposite side were using the good old standard XX/ XY argument, though no one in actuality reads/ perceives gender by looking at your chromosomes.  I was so dismayed reading the comments back that it has kept me up tonight.  John Oliver said what I wanted to, and I couldn't help but start chocking up at 15:45-16:05.  Those that are still prejudiced and advocating discriminatory should at least change their opinion and actions for the sake of themselves.  They are on the wrong side of the civil rights movement, and history won't be kind to them.
