I'm out to all my friends. I (relatively) recently came out toy parents and sister. So far everyone who knows is on board. However now I've started taking T and I'm not out at work (I don't think that would go over well anyways so  planning on just quiting in a month and going back to school) and I'm not out to my extended family. I thought this would be a lot easier than it is and I'm just not sure how to go about it. My dad thinks it'll be fine and I should just do a round of phone calls and get it over with. My mom thinks I shouldnt tell anyone and just wait for the grandparents to die. I was just wondering how everyone else came out to their families and work?

Hey there, I didn't have to come out at work, but I did come out to my extended family about a week ago. I come from a very religious catholic family, and I was scared that they weren't going to accept me. I just went for it and came out  on Facebook, since I'm friends with a bunch of them on there. I briefly explained that I'm transgender and that I'll be going by male pronouns and by Grayson. Everyone took it so well, I got a ton of positive responses and they messaged me saying great stuff.

It all depends on your family, but I would think that if they loved you as family should, you should be able to come out to them just fine. I wish you luck.

Relatives will notice after awhile. They aren't going to die within the next year and will see you at holidays. Tell them, your mom's response is just one that suggests she is not ready to deal with the world knowing your trans.

Some people come out in a letter... or an email... and show some materials like vids later...
