No problem! Part of the reason I got it was to see how it worked, because I didn't understand at first either.
So there are three components: the egg, the control unit, and the dildo. The control unit and egg are attached by a thin wire, maybe about a foot in length. There's also a length of flexible tubing that's attached to the control unit, kind of like what people use for STPs, but much thinner. From what I can see, there's nothing overly special about it, it's basically just there to serve as a bridge between the dildo and the control box. The dildo is also pretty standard...it's slim, maybe an inch or so in diameter, and only 5 ish inches long. There's room for the egg to be tucked into the base via a little sling-type thing built into the dildo, but you don't have to tuck it there (helpful, since it does seem like it'd be a little high).
What's special about the dildo is the air pocket running along the bottom. It's hard to describe, but it's literally just an area where you can feel that there's a shallow trough just under the surface that's completely hollow. At the top of the dildo is a tiny hole through which air can flow in and out of the pocket when the surface of that area is touched. Any change in pressure from the outside is going to cause the trough to deflate and refill to some degree, and it's that change in pressure that triggers the vibration. The tube from the control box plugs into the hole and allows it to pick up on those changes. The only issue I can see with that is the tube coming unattached during sex, but the grip of the silicone seems pretty strong.
My Freetom isn't quite long enough, but what I did was lube up the dildo and insert it into the Freetom like an erection rod. It makes the Freetom slightly thicker, of course but it's not too much of a stretch. Basically, I wanted to see if I used the Freetom as a realistic sleeve for the Ambrosia, if it would still work. And it did (!) I ran a finger along the bottom of the Freetom (with the Ambrosia inserted inside) and the vibrator started just as it did without the Freetom.
And the best part is, if you want to make your own insertable pressure-sensitive rod/dildo, the company seems all about teaching you how to do that. I'm going to try and make some really thin ones to go inside all of my STP pack and plays.
