Anyone have an orchi before HRT? Purely curiosity, and a little antsy about waiting another couple months for HRT... Can one do such a thing because orchi's are slightly more 'regular' than SRS?

I tried to find an answer in previous questions, but to no avail... Everyone talks about having one AFTER being on HRT for a while...

Hi!

I had mine when I was about 14 months into HRT.

If you have an orchi, you will cut off your testosterone production 90% or more. It's really not a good idea to attempt to cut off testosterone production without replacing it with estrogen (that is, without having HRT including at least estrogen in it, if you are an MTF transgender individual, or testosterone if you are a cis male that had to undergo an orchi for testicular cancer or other medical reason).

The body needs sexual hormones to function properly. Testosterone is dominant in males and estrogen in females. Having low levels of both is simply not good for the body. In a long list of problems that you may encounter by reducing T substantially, osteoporosis is one of the major complications that comes as a result of low hormone levels.

If you are planning to cut off your testosterone production by having an orchi, why would you not want to take estrogen anyways? The orchi is mostly used as a replacement for anti-androgen drugs for people such as myself, who felt like we were not having the desired testosterone-production-reduction results we expected from HRT, and also having unbearable side effects such as leg and stomach cramps, super-frequent visits to the bathroom, etc., from the use of anti-androgens such as spironolactone on a daily basis.

An endocrinologist could advice you better, but it is NEVER a good idea to cut off the natural body production of sexual hormones, without replacing it with HRT, because your body NEEDS those hormones, either testosterone or estrogen, to function properly.

Cheers

Hey there

Just a side note: if you're planning on having SRS, you may wanna consider that too. Depending on your surgeon, an orchiectomy may affect the results. I'm not familiar with how it would affect 2nd generation techniques like those practised by American surgeons, but the 3rd gen practised by Thai surgeons heavily relies on available elastic and unscarred scrotal skin. Otherwise, I agree with everything Bibi B. has said  :)

Much love

Good to know... That's why I hadn't read of anyone doing that... Makes sense.

Thanks for the explanation.

And SRS is plausibly in my future, so I'll consider that as well
