I've started having laser on my face since these were taken, so hopefully my next pics will look a bit less heavy on the makeup, but I"d appreciate your thoughts. I'm seeing a therapist at the moment about transition (haven't started AA's or HRT yet), and I'm scared about not fitting in as female - what are (honestly) my odds on passing? How much difference might HRT make without ffs? I'll be starting transition a bit late at 37 and unfortunately male pattern hair loss has struck me down, so I'll be stuck with a wig...

Wahou ! You pass so well. Congrats !!!  :)
When I see the photo of the man with beard (which wasn't the real you) I'm like "it is not the same person at all !!!". It is really like two different person.

I'm an FTM and for a while, I tried to look like "a girl" and when people see my photos long hair/short hair, they are very surprised  :)

Thank you. :) therapy starts soon and hopefully not long til HRT

@Sarahcraft,  I'd say pass! You have a great smile. I don't see heavy makeup, but could just be the pictures. You could have fooled me that you weren't already on HRT. Picture #1 is all girl. Wow! You don't have to worry about the look... if your body language and speech is down, then I wouldn't know the difference.
At what point did my life go Looney Tunes? How did it happen? Who's to blame?... Batman, that's who. Batman! It's always been Batman! Ruining my life, spoiling my fun! >:-)

@Harley Quinn thank you, you just made me cry a bit of happy. I've been working on my voice for about three weeks now, every day, and I'm amazed at progress so far. I've read it takes up to 6 months to get to a place you're happy with,  so I'm hoping by then I'll be comfortable. That's about the time I'm looking at anyway for going full time. I don't see much value in going full time while sounding like a guy, I'd rather give myself the best chance of not being ridiculed daily (as much as possible). Body language is a work in progress!

No thanks are necessary. It's the cold hard truth. You're a foxy lady. I look forward to hearing how things turn out for you. You already have the all important selfie down... 😊

Cheers!

Managed to get a better photo. I'm trying to get a litter better at makeup. Still no HRT  yet. Although first appointment with the GP on Thursday. Pretty excited but also really nervous.

As I'm about to go to the psychologists regarding my non binary feelings (most likely a Genderqueer male who wants to appear female, without altering my body) I probably wouldn't want to go on HRT anytime soon. So that being said, how likely would it be that I could pass as female, based on the photo of me at this link (which is an every day cis mode photo), and what could I do to make myself appear more feminine?

@lemons, I went over your pictures many times and cannot see the large head. In the first set, you do look slightly boyish, but you're certainly not the worst. In the second set, well, of course you look more feminine, but your head does not appear disproportionately big. Hence the following questions:

1. You say you're head stops you from passing. Do you mind me asking in which context ?

2. Just how big is your head? If yours is big, mine must be gigantic! I've measured my head's circumference to be 62 cm while the average for women is 55 cm!

3. Which leads me to this third question: why wouldn't long hair suit you? With the proper hairstyle, anybody can rock longer hair! In fact, longer hairs without so much bulk can help frame a larger face.

From what I see, you don't need surgery. Of course it's up to you.

Regards,

Martine

My head is the most noticeably masculine and off looking part of my body when I look in the mirror. It also stands out amongst other people in group photos, big time.  Check out these one pre transition pics to give you an idea just how ginormous my noggin is/was:

Now granted, a bit of fat and muscle did thin it out a tad over a few years with hormones....couple that with my front hair line coming back and growing bangs to cover my forehead.  But short of that, all that bone still remains. And boy is it quite a bit of bone.  60 cm worth. (23.7 inches around)  Still looks pretty massive next to others too:

Even when others aren't in the frame you'd think it looks normal:

1. Taking this all into account and when I see myself around other people even now and in group photos, it just makes me look like a guy with a slightly femme face.

2. It is smaller than yours, but only by 2 cm.  23.7 inches around.  I guess the actual measurement doesn't matter because I've known other cis and passing trans women with my sized head or larger.  Hell, one transwoman I know has a 26 inch head around and passes fine.  So I doubt it's around head size.  It's gotta be head shape and how bulky the bone there makes it seem/look.
I mean, my genetics suck ass.  I have very manly masculine genetics I inherited. The men on my mom's side have massive long friggin noggins, and I definitely picked up on that.  I don't think mine is quite as bad as theirs?  But I also did start hormones at 24, so who knows.  I was definitely fully developed frame wise by 17...

Different uncles, both on the far right side of each picture:

3. Why not long hair on both sides?  Because I've tried it.  Here's how I looked:

Yeah.  Not great.  Granted, that was a year and a half ago, but asides from rhinoplasty my face structure didn't change a bit.  I tried seeing how my hair would look worn down yesterday, and it looked the same.
I'm not opposed to the idea of letting it grow, and I am.  I did noticed the flatter I made my long strands, the less awkward it looked. (bulkier long hair worn down on me looks really awful as you can see)  Still doesn't really work like it would on a cis woman though, like at all.  I certainly don't think I have a chance in hell...even with FFS, of ever passing or blending even moderately (never mind perfectly or well) into society as female.  What if I told you even trying to present in that way (the way I look in all my best pictures even) I'm clocked as trans 100% of the time?  What if I told you when I present as andro I'm read as male 100% of the time and never bothered/given a second glance?  The future...does not look bright for me.  And I'm 3.5 years on HRT.  I'm screwed.

I just...don't see it happening with what I'm working with.  It's quite harsh and distinctly male.

...and it shows.  I've seen your pics here a couple of times before, but this is the first time I've seen your pre-transition self and I was really blown away;  You're a different person now.

But I get it, I get it:  That fact doesn't matter to you :-\

Your biggest issue is your own self-image I'm afraid.  I would never tell another sister a lie about their appearance, so please trust me when I say:  you're fine! (at least in two dimensions hehe)
