Hiya everyone!! :P

I was in the car with my dad and it somehow came up in conversation that I was nearly called "Saami" (an Arabic boys name). I played it cool because I was with him but inside I was thinking "hmmmmm... That sounds kind of unisex!!"

I always knew that I didn't want to keep my name as Sophie on here because I would kind of prefer to have an Arabic name like the one I have in real life now (I look white but I'm mixed race so having a foreign name is a good icebreaker for me!! :P)

Despite that, I kind of like the thought of being called Samantha or Sam but I'm aware of the trouble I might have when having a unisex name if I don't end up passing very well!! ;)

Basically, here is a poll of all the names I'm considering. Some are based around Saami, some are based around my real name and some are just there because I kind of like them!! :) I just want to hear your opinions and if you think any of them fit me better than others!!

Obviously I know that at the end of the day it's my decision so don't feel that you're forcing me into a decision, I just want to hear thoughts!!

Love you all!! :P xxx

Anything that can be shortened to Sam is a bit too unisex for me and I think you should have a 100% girls name, since you look totally girly :) My reason being that I have a unisex boy name that I thought would be ok, but I feel better having a non-unisex name.

I agree with Sarah, my boy name before my name was legally changed was unisex, but my name isn't in any regard now. I'm partial to Hannah only because my middle name is Hannah.  ;D Hugs

I understand what both of you girls are saying, I think if I was to choose Samantha I would go by Samantha rather than Sam though :) xxx

I like Hannah as a name but really you should go by what you feel suits you and what you like, remember Itll be your name everyday going forward.

Well, Hannah is probably the closest out of the names to my name at the moment which is why I picked it!! :) but I do like all of the names and I can't quite decide!! That's why I just wanted everyone else to have an input just to see what other people think!! ;) xxx

Grace mentioned what I forgot to and that is at the end of the day your the one that has to live with the name you choose and no one else. So please do pick something that fits you no matter how similar or how it can be changed into other names. You can always correct them, if you choose to, if they shorten it and your not happy with their doing so. My mom tried to sway me on different names, but in the end of the day I chose my name and not her. I chose something that was truly me and I'm happy I did because after all I have to live with the name the rest of my life. Good luck and I hope you figure out which one or even a different one that fits you. Hugs

You might look the names up on urbandictionary.
There are rude comments, just skip those.
Some of the comments might give you a hint.

Have you ever read a passage of a book and felt it was like written for you ?

Or heard a conversation and felt like part of it was referring to something you thought about ?

Usually it can be felt if there is something special there...
you might try this.

Well I voted Aliya and Samira, both are nice. They can also be passed off/shortened to male Islamic names but that might be a negative rather than a positive. Ayesha is a lovely name but is very common. It took me AGES to pick a name and I still don't know if I will keep it haha.
If you like Hannah you could try Haniya or Haafizah. But I found that I changed my mind when I thought of it together with my surname, let us know what you pick!

Hiya, I always used to think about the name Hannah (hence the middle name of my account) :) I'm struggling to find an Islamic girls name beginning with H that I like and my current name (which also begins with H) has no female equivalent :( this is what drew me to Hannah in the first place - it's just a nice name and it begins with H!! That's pretty much it!! :P so at the moment I am leaning towards Hannah a bit but I still want to look for Arabic names as well!! :) xxx

I voted for Samira and Hannah since both are lovely names. But don't forget you could always go with both as your first and middle name. Samira Hannah sounds quite lovely, and even if you later decided to go by Hannah, many people often prefer to be recognised by their middle names. At the end of the day, though, it is entirely up to you. Of course, there is also the option of going by *all* of those names, ha ha. I have a friend who has four middle names because his parents were unable to settle on just the one! :)

Of all the ones you listed, I like Hannah the most. It's actually on my own short list as well :D

Having an ethnic name while living in a western country is always challenging. From people not knowing how to pronounce it, to having to spell it out while telling someone over the phone, etc. At the same time, a name is so important, because it's a part of one's identity and roots, and I definitely don't want to give that up either.

It's nice to have a name that fits your personality.

I was Sarah at first, but I changed it to Zoe for a few reasons. The main one is that it fits - its a little bit crazy, and quite inquisitive.

Hannah seems to fit the bubbly, happy image I have of you :~) How does it feel?

Once a name feels as if it fits like a glove, you know you have the right one.

I really like the name but I don't know how it fits!! I think I need to sit down one day while dressed up and introduce myself as each different name in front of a mirror!! ;) I know I must sound like I'm turning in to a crazy person talking to myself but I don't think I'll know how each one fits until I do that!! :) xxx

That sounds like a really good idea actually :)

I voted for Hannah by the way.

It's not crazy at all. Sounds like a really reasonable idea to me. It will help you see if it fits. Hugs
