I was at the park playing in the water sprinklers with my girlfriend and then when we decided we wanted to go home we had decided to change our clothes so I was wearing her clothes and she was wearing mine. Fortunately, our clothes fit and we decided to keep them on. As we were walking home I had overheard a conversation between a child and her mother:

"Mommy, is that a boy or a girl?" *Points towards me*
"That's a boy, [name] now don't look at him."

I didn't really pay much mind to that statement nor did I know how to react to that; I wanted to turn around and tell her about my situation but I ultimately decided to just save my breath. However, I had felt very nervous and anxious about my trip home as I felt I would become a victim to gender based violence, fortunately I was okay and no damage was done, however it was very unsettling to know a bunch of people were staring at me, confused and/or judging me.
Seventeen and strung out on confusion,
Seventeen and coming clean for the first time,
no mom and dad will never understand,
what's happening to me.
