I am in a REALLY tricky situation....

I need to try to lose weight. The way my weight sits (breasts, tummy, hips) causes me really extreme dysphoria. I am starting testosterone soon, but most of the research I have done leads me to believe that I should start trying to lose the weight before I start.

The thing that makes this so tough is that I am recovering from an eating disorder (EDNOS, binge/starve cycle) that is a lot of the reason I am so overweight. My metabolism is completely shot from subsisting on not enough food for a month or so at a time.

A lot of the advice I find online is either things I am already doing (move, eat your vegetables, limit fats/sugars/white carbs, eat smaller but more frequent meals), or so restrictive that it is really not feasible or healthy. I know from experience that reducing my intake below about 1200 cal/day results in a "hungry high" that is way too similar to the feeling I got from my starve cycles, and therefore a very slippery slope.

Does anyone have any good resources? Anyone else been in a similar place? I am a little lost, and really frustrated. I tried talking to my doctor, but she subscribes to the "if you're fat, any loss is good loss" train of thought.

There are 2 websites I like. Both promote a healthy weight. Nerd Fitness is all about overall fitness. Muscles for Life is about healthy muscle gains. They sometimes have different diet advice,  but both promote health over diet and exercise

I'm in recovery from an eating disorder (anorexia in my case) and I'm very careful not to restrict my food because I could easily end up down that rabbit hole.

Find another doctor . . . one who will take your total life situation into account. An endo who treats trans-people might be helpful.

I'm in the exact same place too. My situation is very similar now, but I got into it a little different. My metabolism is shot to hell, I work out, I eat healthy, I'm decently active, but I can't shed the weight. I am curvy too, so when I weigh more my curves accentuate.

It's a tough spot to be in mentally.
