Bishops seek exemption to British proposal on transsexuals' records

'LONDON (CNS) – English and Welsh bishops have expressed concern that they would not be able to stop transsexuals from becoming nuns or priests under new equality legislation proposed by the British government.'

"There is no convincing evidence that a gender can really be changed or acquired, much less chosen," he said. "Furthermore, the Catholic Church would hold on theological grounds that gender is given before birth and cannot be changed."

Oh Goddess, I'm soooo glad I quit that horrible cult long ago and never looked back. And these are the guys whose priests dress up in women's clothes in imitation of the ancient Roman transsexual priestesses of the Goddess whose religion they pillaged and destroyed. If you want to know where their attitude problem derives from. Fie on 'em, the hypocrites.

I guess the qualifier for such a request would be whether that is a standard procedure already? That is, normal for the clergy to be able to check the background info for all applicants ~ Because if it is not something they feel compelled to do for every applicant, than they do not have a leg to stand on. Another example of how the church acts to maintain control in all facets of life, even though they would claim otherwise.

And dare I raise this spectre? I do! Checking to make sure no one that has transtitioned can become part of the clergy is of utmost importance! But allowing pedophiles to invade their ranks and abuse at will ~ not so important?  WTF is wrong with that picture?

I would love for there to be a web page or site that collected all the studies on sexual orientation, paraphelias, gender identity, etc., where you could go to actually read the 'numerous studies' that folks such as Dr. James Dobson sling about so gleefully in order to defend their position....
