Short shorts...anything to keep cool...and yes last night was pure pleasure sitting in the warmth of the night listening to the rain on the roof of the pergola...Was up before 5 again and it was really nice then as well...I have simply been little more than a grease spot on my furniture the last 3 days.

The ducks are enjoying it here in Sydney.
Wet and miserable.

Why does it always seem to rain when I am off work.
Someone today even made a joke about it.

So long and thanks for all the fish

Hi there fellow aussies!

I feel a tad bit bad that I have spent so much time absorbing the knowledge and information shared here, and never really paused to say hello to everyone.

I'm pretty early into my transition, and the resources here have been fantastic to help guide me through various steps; from my first ever appointment with a mental health professional (scary!), to various practical matters to do with my body (less scary!).

I commenced HRT recently, and I've had all the difficult conversations that I need to for now.  I gave my employer advanced warning about everything last week.  That's a bit of weight off my chest.  Eventually I'll have to go back and talk with a wider group of family and friends, but for now I feel like I've settled into my journey and can relax and enjoy watching the subtle little changes in my body and my life.  Everytime something good happens in my transition, I write it on a post-it note and pop it into a sealed tin.  I can't wait to open the tin in 12-18 months and reflect on all the good things that happened during my transition.

So thanks for all the great info and guidance you've got stored up here.  Ohh... and at the risk of being a bit critical... have you considered putting an alert in bright, bold, flashing letters on the main page, warning users about just how painful facial laser treatment is??! Seems unfair to leave innocent, sweet girls like me to learn that for themselves. :)

Best wishes for a warm sunny holiday season in oz.

Claire.

Because you a rain Goddess, and the clouds all follow you to rain on you with love!

I on the other hand are seen as a sun Goddess. I must be because when I water the garden wearing my bikini, the male neighbours go to their gardens and keep saying 'Oh God'.

In your case the guys see you and say 'Duck'. >:-)

That's an experience no amount of warning is going to prepare you for!

Cheers

Hi Claire,

From sunny Adelaide.

There is nothing quite like the 'sweet' agony of having your beard blasted off to make you forget kidney stones!

  •

Ms Grace

And really, laser is nothing compared to electrolysis... especially the top lip, that is a whole new level of excruciation!

Thanks girls...just finished two sessions of laser with great results but am moving on to my first electrolysis in 2 weeks...hearing that laser is nothing to electrolysis is scary as the laser at times really stung...I just kept saying to myself every bit of pain is one step closer...so suck it up,you have dealt with much worse...electrolysis doesn't sound like much fun at all is it really that much worse again?

I guess it depends on your tolerance for pain and the method being used (thermolysis vs galvanic). Sometimes I feel the probe go in, sometimes not. The upper lip is the worst by far, especially just under the nostril, maybe ask your electro if you can use Emla cream to numb the area before it's worked on. It helps a little.

There was some discussion about pain management for electrolysis a while ago.

https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,176665.0.html

There's a topical suggested there that you can get that's much stronger than Emla, and I found out that you can get it compounded in Sydney (with prescription). Presumably elsewhere in Australia as well.

Bioevolve is a standard formulation of Benzocaine 20%, Lidocaine 6%, and Tetracaine 4%, but you can get it compounded (here) even stronger with 30% Benzocaine. Its probably starting to get a little dangerous at these strengths so you'd want to be careful how you use it. I can dig out  a bit more info if anyone's interested.

I told Dr Hayes about it, and he wasn't too impressed. It seems he's got much better, so when I get electrolysis I'm going there. Not too many endo's doing electrolysis though.

I have found laser quite pleasant.
Never had an issue with it between the zaps.
Electo, piece of cake, what are you all so worried about?

Thanks for pointing that out Cindy. It seems the clouds want to be near me, to love me, to cherish me and to water me when I am on hollidays!
Just call me the "Quasi Supernormal Incremental Precipitation Inducer"
So long and thanks for all the fish

I found electrolysis on my general face to be fine, i have even been known to nod off on the table while it is being done. The area around below the nostril is another story, even with plenty of numbing cream it is still extremely painful. But like you i just lay back and remind myself that it is all worth it 😀
