Welcome back to the UK Alyssa. Where were yoy before?
Sadly I cant help you directly as I'm not in Nottingham, although it has a place in my heart because back in the mid 1980's I did one of my few television appearances at Lenton Lane studios. Mostly I worked behind the cameras, or in radio, but this was a rare appearance. I nearly came to Nottingham a couple of years back as they were one of four UK medical schools who made me an offer of a place to train for medicine, which I am now doing, but sadly I opted for a London school instead. I am therefore broadly familiar with Nottingham and I'm sure you'll find your feet soon enough.
I have to say I transitioned and had my SRS way back (over three decades ago) when the current fad for support groups wasnt yet there. My own experience, coupled with some involvement as a mentor on a couple of occasions is that they can be a mixed blessing. If you have a good medical team, and a supportive family you may find that its better to be a lone wolf. That way you avoid being ghettoised, and suckkered into repeating other people's mistakes.
Looking back i'm very glad that history forced me to do it my own way - and of course you have susans here.
So welcome and good luck.
