'When I sat down to watch the pilots for the slew of new shows set to debut this fall, a unique subplot popped up in some of the biggies:
Men with transsexual girl (boy?) friends.'

Just as gay men had to be portrayed as a bunch of "nancies" to be accepted in the mainstream in the beginning, transsexuals ala trans-women, ala ->-bleeped-<-s ~ they'll never get it ~ must be portrayed as prostitutes or sexual playthings to be acceptable. This society is not comfortable with the idear that people with any kind of alternative bent or background could possible be happy, or even happier than the people watching the portrayal. That would be tooooooo dangerous.

Fantastic!

Weirdly my mom loves the show Dharma and Greg, but she voted against gay marriage when it came up on the ballot.  It's like queer eye is a way popular show, but gay marriage amendments passed in the droves.  So who knows what this will do.  I predict torches and pitchforks at the front gates.  But killer ratings!
