A trans man has been allowed to become a godfather to his nephew, despite previously being banned by the Catholic church.

A bishop previously determined that 21-year-old Alex Salinas would not be allowed to serve as a godparent of his nephew.

Although the article fails to mention the diocese, this is a stunning change from the report the other day that the Catholic Church would not allow trans-people to be God-parents.  The bishop gave in to pressure to allow the trans-man to be God-father.  Kudos to all those that fought this fight!

The thing that maddens me is the statement that they didn't discriminate. If you say "you can't do ... because you are transgender" you ARE discriminating. I'm not surprised about the discrimination, but the weasel-words are pretty shameless.
