I have first hand experience of this when trying to find a replacement G.P following the retirement of my previous primary-care practitioner.
The other practice in town only had Doctors representing from a singular, cultural and religious background; both of whom declined to accept me as a new patient, citing:
"Doctor, not being comfortable with your background"........I concluded the
'background' in question wasn`t my place of birth, socio-economic grouping or PhD.

I`ve wondered since, as to the legality {and ethics} of them making such a statement, esp. with regards to anti-discrimination/gender-equality laws?
Thankfully, after several months of being without access to any G.P healthcare support, I was able to locate a wonderfully supportive new G.P in a nearby town.
