Day one of the UK parliament's trans inquiry: I feel let down already
When are they actually going to talk to trans people?

"I don't know what I expected from today's first oral sessions of the UK Parliamentary Inquiry on Transgender Issues. But I know how I felt by the end. Let down. Disappointed. And yes: just a tiny bit deceived.
It's not that a lot of the right things weren't said. Skimming the trans message boards this morning I came across many, many comments from people greatly encouraged by the fact trans reality was for the first time getting a full and frank outing before a serious parliamentary audience.

I'm glad they are glad. Still, I fret over an opportunity missed."
