Hi, I am 19 year old mtf transgender and I began HRT about 3 months ago and have been going full out for about a month. The question or concern that I have is that, I know Canada health care covers SRS through CAMH approval (which I am in waiting list for about 9 months) however, the process and their requirement for the surgery is just stressing me too much. I know the surgery is expensive and it is best to take the route to minimize the financial needs, but I seriously don't think I can wait 1-3 years to get my surgery. So here is the thing. I have planned to get ffs this winter and was also planning to get brazilian butt lift which is fat transfer to hips and buttocks to acheive feminine silhouette next april or so. However, while I was researching, I found out that in Thailand, where the surgeons have the most experiences treating trans people, the cost was pretty much at the same border as brazilian butt lift. I know, most of you guys will think, why the hell are you getting brazilian butt lift if you can get your sex reassignment surgery, however, I just feel guilty and debated whether I should just take whatever resources i can take advantage of. Any thoughts and recommendation? :/

3 months isn't giving much time for HRT to do anything, you are young, your bones haven't completely finished growing yet. I don't think you'd want to be messing with your butt before letting the HRT do it's stuff a few more years.

As far as SRS goes I think you'll find Thai has waiting lists also.
I will touch a 100 flowers and not pick one.

Saying any surgeon/country is the best, even if there is one, is kind of asking for an argument. Its not generally a good idea.

However my personal favorite is Suporn in Thailand and I know a fair bit about him. Not so much about the others.

Suporn is booked out about a year and is the most expensive. I believe the others are much shorter.

Being on  HRT less than a year and under 20 years of age adds some additional requirements (for Suporn at least).

Manitoba I hear has the best trans-health... If you live here you should be just fine!

I'm also from canada (Manitoba girl here) and from when i first finally decided to come out and look at getting onto hormones, my transition has only taken 2 years total. I first went to look about getting into a clinic that offered HRT back around October 20th, 2013. It took me 5 months to get onto HRT by being proactive and trying multiple routes to get onto it (the wait list was 8 months). so end of march I had started HRT, went full time a couple weeks after that and in april of this year had my appt with psych to get letter for surgery. Now I'm just counting down the days to november 2nd when I go and see Brassard.

It may feel like a long time, and it still does for me but, it does go by fairly quickly and as long as you keep up on everything and stay proactive you can get it done pretty quick through canadian health insurance
