Finding new glasses :P

I don't like my current glasses. Size-wise they seem to be okay, but they're way too masculine. Prior to getting them, I got gendered female far more frequently than I do now. Even my therapist agrees that they're too masculine.
Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck changing them. When I went in for my new prescription, I didn't like any of the frames, yet I couldn't think of a way to describe what it was I wanted without outing myself in the process. Going elsewhere and trying the ladies' frames hasn't helped much either, as they either don't fit my face, or they're way too conspicuous (e.g. stones and whatnot). It's really quite frustrating: either the glasses are too masculine, or they call too much attention to themselves. Or they don't work with my face. Or they're just ugly, which is like 2/3 of them anyway. And people keep telling me that glasses are fairly unisex, too.

Where I go they had a lot of female frames that I would love to have. Right now I have frames that are andro; I am eligible for frames through insurance in November . Keep looking and you will find a place. Maybe a place has a book of frames if they are not on display that they and order in for you. I like the look of bamboo.

I used to sell glasses so I'll try to help. Are your current frames comfortable? If so look on the inside of the frame you'll see 2 or 3 numbers. I'll use mine as reference. The first two will be on either side of a box: 52 ◻︎ 18 Then a third, usually ending in a 5 or a 0. Most likely 135, 140 or 145.

52 = the width of a single lens in millimeters
18 = the width between the lenses in millimeters
135 = the length of the arm in millimeters.

I ask if your current frames are comfortable because you can get your prescription from your Doctor, and then pick out and order a frame online and you know it'll fit as the measurements are the same. The only other thing that you may want to get is your PD (pupilary distance) and OC (Ocular height). When you go to the Dr's office for the RX just ask for those as well. They (shouldn't) but they might huff at you - thinking that you are going to a competitor.

But they are legally required to give you that info on request as it is technically part of the prescription that you paid for.

So check your frames and see if they're a similar size to yours.  I found them at the Wal-mart Vision Center by my house, they have TONS of frames you can try on if you'd like.  But Wal-Mart didn't accept my insurance, so I ordered mine online from discountglasses dot com

Cool. I didn't know that. Mine appear to be 55 ◻︎ 15 145.

I tried the Walmart vision center. Found one pair in the men's that sort of worked (not perfect, but better than what I've got, or most of the other options), but I think I may shop around before I make any final decision.

I had good luck finding a huge selection at zenni optical. They are online, cheaper than Walmart and have tons of sales. The pair I got was fairly sturdy. When I entered my prescription wrong, they refunded my money and let me reorder using my first time special price

I haven't started lookino in earnest, but when I get a chance to feminize my glasses, I'm going to trust the bespectacled musical princess Lisa Loeb. She has an entire line ranging from subtle to obvious. I especially like the Cake and Pie pair.

I would look online first and maybe take in a picture of what you want
