Blount County's local government commissioners voted 10-5 to decline to discuss Karen Miller's plan to spare the state of Tennesse from God's wrath over gay people being allowed to marry in America

A Tennessee Republican local government politician has seen her hopes to save her state from God's divine wrath over gay people marrying dashed this week – though she says she hasn't given up fighting to have her resolution heard.

Blount County commissioner and Republican Karen Miller put a formal apology to God on Tuesday's local government meeting agenda – fearing that God will punish America like he did in the Old Testament stories of Sodom and Gommorah and the Passover in which God took the lives of all the firstborn children of Egypt.

In her 'Resolution condemning judicial tyranny and petitioning God's mercy,' Miller wrote that, 'we the Blount County Legislature call upon all of the officers of the State of Tennessee, the Governor, the Attorney General, and the members of the Tennessee Legislature, to join us, and utilize all authority within their power to protect natural marriage, from lawless court opinions, and the financial schemes of the enemies of righteousness wherever the source and defend the moral standards of Tennessee.'

Thanks for posting this. It helps me understand some of the mindset of that brand of Christianity - that they're afraid their God will smite everyone for the "sins" of the LGBT.

It must be terrifying to fear that your world is in the grips of such an all-powerful tyrant.

It is amazing to think that with all the moral atrocities of killing innocent people such as Hitler, murdering millions, Stalin and Mao killing hundreds of millions, some people would think that God is going to go into an apocalypic snit and destroy the world over a few same sex people loving each other, committing to one another, or giving pleasure to one another. It must be terrifyingly paranoic to live in constant fear of such an awful, hateful, vengeful, supreme being who would punish you for the acts of others.
