So, first I do think I am intersex versus MTF Trans.... if that means anything

I do not have a doctor of any kind, I am in therapy though and have a great therapist, but I am her first patient of this kind

my insurance company has a good policy of coverage for our situation, but without a call I cannot say if my plan covers anything

I guess I am ready ??? to make the first step, I just dont know what that is.... :-\

my plans are HRT and Orchie and Im guessing Id be happy, I dont need full SRS at this point as I have what I feel is a **** covers mouth and whispers **** usable vagina.... 8)

so far I have been on soy milk, flax and pure belief, and have noticed some favorable changes to my body and mind

so where to start?

Ive also read that intersex seems to get much better results from hrt... true?

thanks! ;D

Well, better results... For sure if your body already produced a fair amount of estrogen during teenage you may already have more feminin traits. Else, you won't see "better" results than any mtf regarding HRT.

Be sure to contact an endocrinologist for prescription. Remember that you may already produce estrogen on a cycle so you may need more patience at start so your doctor or endocrinologist find your right dosage.

Hi , you seam pretty determined and considered everything well which is a great thing I guess .

Soy is a phytoestrogen , it falls under the category of xenoestrogens , which is a non scientifically proven source of estrogens . It mimics the effects of estradiol but the mimic is so poor ( 1/1000 ) that it is to be neglected .

There are a lot of other valuable estrogen sources which are effective and not harmfull for your liver .
PhytoeEstrogens have their own side effects too and could mess with your bloodstream .

I am on the point of transitioning too . I start estrogen in gel form next week . I wanted to use phytoestrogens too at first but then came to realize that I would be both wasting time and money .
I am going to self-medicate but I recommend you to search a good endocrinologist ( ask for a referal letter from your GP ) and have your transition monitored . It could very well be that an endo will put you only on estrogen and not on hormone blockers ( testo blockers ) if you are visibly intersexed ( obviously androgynous ) .

A very famous intersexed transgendered woman is Caroline Tulla Cosey . She was born with Klinefelter ( XXY chromosomes ) .

They say , but I don't know if it's myth or truth , that intersexed people ,  and especially those facing gender dysphoria since childhood , have headaches very often ( migraine headache ) . An MRI would be able to show a huge mass of white activity in the right part of the brain sometimes . I think that this also counts for me . I have migraine every day , have a very strong feeling of being caught in the wrong body since childhood and I am convinced that I have the female brain structures scientists talk about when mentioning M2F transkinds.

You should visit sileyome.wordpress.com
It's Kay Brown her website . She is a middle aged transwoman who transitioned four decades ago .
She educates the public about the two big type of transsexuals there are and her evidence indeed says that trans people like us ( intersex and M2F transkids ) mostly have better results from hormone therapy than the other group ( which I can't name by name ) . Scientifics believe the cause is that we have some biological female structures that are already present in our body before we start hormones . Hormones trigger these features to develop themselves .

Are you also considering breast augmentation ?
Hormones usually don't provide us with much more than A size breasts . Maybe insurance could also cover your breast augmentation as you have evidence for your transsexual feelings ( your intersexuality is a biological evidence ) ? I would definitely ask this to my insurance company if I were you .
Hi everyone ! I am Vincence , 19 years old , living in Belgium and I am transgender since as long as I can remember . As a kid I already was a girl but didn't really get picked on for my femininity . Growing up that changed . I know that I am transsexual since the age of 15 , came out to my parents and brother this summer , got denied for it . Now I am going to have SRS in 2 yrs.

Yeah I don't know if I'm intersexed or not but I developed differently from cis boys, had a pretty fem body. Once I started hrt the changes were amazing.

@WomanLikeAStar I did suffer from migraines growing up, it started around puberty. They could never find what was causing them, had mris and stuff but nothing showed up I think? I don't really remember. Now I'm curious....  :o

It probably doesn't mean anything different unless you have a diagnosis of being intersex, which costs money for testing your karyotype and also mapping your genes to see if you have various forms of AIS.

Absent of that they usually they'll just measure your hormone levels and go from there. In my case my T was 185 pg/nl so it did not take much to lower it. My low levels explained a lot about my life and development.

I really don't know if I'm intersex but I know I've likely been exposed to DES. I had slow puberty with my voice not dropping until my late teens and corrected by Dr Kim I don't have many of the typical resonance issues that MTFs have.

As far as "better results from HRT" it may be that you developed some already and that should help you. Things like hips and bone structure are difficult to change post puberty. However if you are truly intersex you may have had some of that development. But it is usually about genetics so if your female relatives developed well, there is a good chance you will too.

As for how to start, people usually go one of two routes to do it legally. One is to have a referral from their therapist to a doctor to start cross sex hormone therapy (commonly known as hormone replacement therapy or HRT). Another is informed consent where you can go to a clinic, they will counsel you, but in the end it is on you to acknowledge and know the risks so you sign paperwork, then you are under the care of one of their doctors (or nurse practitioner, in my case).

Informed consent is surely the way to go if you are 100% sure.

Also much of this info is US centric because from what I gather there are different processes in different countries such as the UK. In my old country (Trinidad and Tobago) you have to be diagnosed by the psychiatric unit at the hospital then they can refer you for hormone therapy. In the UK they have to deal with the GIC and you have some real life experience requirement before you get prescribed.

Good luck, I hope you get what you need.
