I just went to this conference this weekend after noticing Janet Mock tweeting about it a few weeks ago. It was fun, but a bit overwhelming. There was so much surgery info and surgeons to meet and listen to. Hanging out with a bunch of more or less openly trans women and men isn't what I'm used to, but I want to be more used to it in the future ;-)
Have any of y'all gone to conferences like this? Did any of you happen to attend the same one I did? This time I was mostly busy shopping for a surgeon for my GRS, next time I want to spend more time making friends and getting involved in the community. I heard there was one I Seattle recently...but I have no idea where else these conferences are.

My therapist suggested that I go to the SLO conference but I had other plans this weekend (a 9 hour electrolysis appointment).  I was really interested in who all was there and what was being discussed.  I wish I had more notice of the event so that I could have planned better.  I am looking for additional opportunities in the SOCAL area.  If anyone is aware of any events in this area please let me know.

I would have gone to the ANPATH conference in Adelaide last year, but life was a bit to complicated at the time. Sorry, Cindy... maybe next time!!

My brain just skipped over that when I read it earlier. It was like, there's no way she wrote 9 hours, must have been a typo. I can't even imagine how awful that long of an electrolysis appointment is.
Mine have only been max 2ish hours for my face, now they're only about 40 minutes.

I wish I could have gone, but I am currently on the other side of the country. I did have some friends that attended, and have heard it was an excellent conference.

Yep Yep. I had a little too much fun yesterday night after the panels, and was seriously sick this morning since I seriously can't seem to handle my alcohol anymore, even the free kind from cute guys... although he was a lot less cute after he lit up a cigarette outside the bar. But before I had an inadvisable amount of alcohol, I went to a specialty store in SLO and found some awesome Imperial insignia earrings.

Cool earrings!  Sounds like you had a great time.

I can't wait until I have only 40 minute sessions. I've had about 63 hours total so far and it seems like there will never be an end, but I know there will be.

I haven't been to a trans conference; we used to have an annual conference here in AZ, but they discontinued it several years ago.
