Its too bad all the land has been discovered.  With all the flack we get, wouldn't it be great to have our own country that we all could live in.  Just people like us. No one to give us the funk we don't need or want. There seems enough of us that are trained with this world that we could make it work. There we can dress and be as we want 24/7.

This call goes out to one of the wealthy out there. Buy us a country to live in.  We are good people in need of our own society. It seems this world has it out for us.  We need to get away from it until it matures enough for us to join them again.

lol No i am not losing it, I have always been this way.

I suspect things will get better. Things already seem to be in certain areas. I was shocked at how well I've been received. However, it might be nice to have an area for people that are struggling.

I used to think something similar about having a hotel resort that only catered for the TG community.  However, after spending time on the forum and learning, I have come to realize that it would be the same as telling a TG child they can use gender neutral bathrooms in school and not the one that reflects their gender identity.

Society NEEDS to change and treat everyone equally, not make us feel we have to be segregated for whatever reason.  The world out there is cold and harsh (look at the reports of Tg's being beaten or murdered).  All of us living in a singe country would just make it worse.  We would feel like we have to hide for just being ourselves.

A long-time dream of mine is that I would found a nation. Preferably an island nation, since sailing and fishing are among the few things that I know something of.

I really think things have come a long way in just a year. I think in the next couple of decades we'll start to see bigger changes for the better.

I would rather fix the problems than live in some kind of trans ghetto.

You have to admit that Transland would be all rainbows and unicorns... right?

Since hearing the recent news about Maryland I consider it a possible haven at least for getting my documents taken care of.

We don't need a country as much as a place that every lgbt person can go to without worrying about being killed for LGBT status or how they are going to pay for the basic medical procedures involved in transition and get them in a timely manner. Even if we only got wasteland it would be good. if that is our own country that is fine, as long as it happens. For disclosure, I am definitely a Zionist, so its not hard to imagine why the idea creating a safe haven for lgbt people is appealing to me. Just be warned, making a good country isn't easy.

I think there are a lot of people that would love to ship us off to an island somewhere so they don't need to deal with us.

I for one am not going to give them the satisfaction. I am staying right here!

Luckily Maryland is where "right here" happens to be.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

To be honest, if this place were ever real (which I hope it wont be) I wouldn't even go there, part of the fun of life is living in places with diverse people and that includes putting up with the negativity, it's just a part of life. Would be far better to learn how to deal with the ''hate'' than hide behind ideas like that. Besides, I see more hate coming within the community than without in my personal experience.

Gets boring seeing the ''Victim'' mentality in the trans community, yes we get picked on, but so do blacks, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, religious people, small people, fat people, tall people, mentally challenged people. Live with it

Traci,
That reminds me of Galts Gulch!  Who is john Galt?  If you read the book.  If the place could hold lgbt friendly people too it would be nice.  Good luck keeping the politicians away from it though.

It will not get better if they no longer have to interact with us - then there is no need for them to bother with our issues.

Further, such a country would not be paradise on earth - aside from general anti-transgender discrimination, it would have all the issues modern society faces (class society, other kinds of discrimination, probably respectability politics would develop too, plus economic viability would also be an issue). An intersectional struggle in our present societies is the only way to move things forward.
