Northern Jane

That was the easiest part for me! When I was 3 or 4 a new girl moved into the neighbourhood and I thought her name (which isn't Jane LOL!) was the prettiest name I ever heard so I adopted it for myself and it has been with me ever since, over 60 years now. Everything else came hard but  the name was easy  ;)

I originally chose Sam cause I liked it. But I gave my parents the chance when I came out to them, and they liked Daniel. So Daniel I am :D
Smile... it confuses people  ;D

I was writing a short story named Clara. Once I was done with it I had no doubts that I was, and had been Clara all my life.

Now my wife wants to find me a middle name, but her suggestions so far had been horrible. (lol)

When I decided to take a new name as my own, it was easy.  From Breakfast at Tiffany's.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!

Actually, mine's fairly simple, and it's entirely due to a lucky coincidence.

My parents named me James, but they and the rest of my family have always called me Jamie as a sort of diminutive form of it. I've generally introduced myself as Jamie to everyone since.

And since Jamie is one of those few names that can be used by either gender, I don't have to change it.

My middle name is Alan, which is going to require a change. I'm planning to go with Alice just to keep things simple.

Also, since I'm in a scientific field (paleontology) that involves publishing papers, I've been wondering how to explain a potential name change, but I think the classic solution of using "J.A. (last name)" for everything will work.

Talking to my wife about this today and I asked her what she like and she reeled off a heap of really horrible names...then out popped Elizabeth, which she really likes, I really like, it fits my age, was the name my mother would have given me had she known I was a girl, the name of my best friend who is most probably responsible for saving my life over 30 years ago and to cap it all off, it just kind of went "clunk" in my head when we both said it...and the most important reason of course... if you are going to have a name it may as well be the same as Royalty ha ha

I did decide to flip-flop my name, so when I turn the forms in to the Supreme Court Clerk, I will be Diane Catharine.

EmilyAlyssa

When I was a child, I used to refer to myself as Emily in my head.  I do not remember where Emily came from to be honest...but Emily was a part of me for many years. Now, at 43, Emily has acquired something of a negative connotation...I made the mistake of telling my mother my girl name and it has become a derogatory term for her. Now, I am Alyssa. This name comes directly from the TV show Charmed, which I watched religiously because it starred 3 beautiful women, any of which I would have traded places with at the drop of a hat. I named my daughter Piper and I stole Alyssa from Alyssa Milano.
My name is Alyssa. Emily was my name for myself when I was a teen. Why did I make Emily part of my username? To remind myself that everything I am now is because of everything I have gone through up to this point.

Nikki (Nicole) was the first friend I had that I wanted to be like.  Marie is my wife's middle name the first woman I was sexually attracted to.

Yup me too. Just removed the n at the end. But went with Lynne as a middle name because it is my current wife's middle name and my favorite ex girlfriends middle name too. Lol

I didn't choose my name—it chose me :) I was between Natalia and Lourdes but I've been so much time using Natalia that changing now would be kind of a struggle.

TG CLare

My first name came via a gasoline company calling me Clare. Didn't bother me, kind of liked the name and since way back we originated in Ireland, I thought Clare, after the county was a nice touch.

My middle name, Rachelle, I called myself after the really nice sales clerk who took good care of me in my early, heart stopping shopping trips for clothes.  I told her they were for my sister but she asked if they were really for her, a gift card would be best, if they were for me and she apologized if they weren't, then she could really help me much better. They were and she did so I adopted her name. She was quite honoured about that.

My last name I borrowed from the lady in Indiana Jones film, Raiders of the lost Ark. She didn't take any crap from people and neither do I.

Love,
Clare

Interesting reading everyone experiences with this. My story is almost too simple. the second I thought I needed a female name Sarah popped into my head. I have always liked girls names that start with an S...  Then I thought maybe I should have a middle name too and Elizabeth popped into my head. With that Sarah Elizabeth  :icon_censored:  <---last name  was born.  I tried to give it some thought to make sure they were the right choices but I never doubted it and I love them.

I would love to hear about your experience with Dr Cardenas. I'm pretty muche decided to go there when I'm ready to get things done but I love hearing about people experiences. If you could post a note on this thread so I can find it  that would be great  ;D

Nikolai

I choose Nikolai because atm my Middle name is Nicole and thought it would be easier for my Mother to remember plus its an exotic and sexy name in my opinion plus i wanted something that is vampirish but not to obvious, I'm a bit of a Vampire freak, I'd have loved to call myself Vladimir but alas its to 'cliche' :p, I still haven't figured out my middle name yet though
I came out to work recently and they all call me Niko while I still look feminine.

ToniB

Hi Bristol

My name was actually chosen for Me by My work colleagues as I had always been Known as Tony for 20 odd Years by everybody they said Why not use Toni the feminine derivative saving everybody the hassle of remembering a new name ,that actually made a lot of sense so that was what I did
The girl inside is just as important expecially to Yourself :)

The name I chose, it was my fiancée's name. She died. I use it because I always loved it, and to honour her memory.

Not entirely sure how she'd feel about that, but I would like to hope she would understand.

TonyaW

Wanted to keep same initials so looked up a list of girls names that start with T.  I  liked Tonya best.  Middle name Jonelle,  from the male Jon.

OutsideMe

I originally wanted to use the female name my Mom was going to give me. I married a girl with that name, so that wouldn't work. Instead I chose the female version of my male name, Danielle. My male middle is my grandmother's maiden name. To still honor that I am going to use her first name.

As time has been moving on, I have been feeling that I need a name that is more feminine, so that I can be correctly addressed, when it is her day. As she's intricately mixed in my everyday, I wanted my name to be at least related to my given name and am settling on Rowan (which bizarrely enough, is).

The only way I can describe how I feel with this name for an intrinsic part of me is comfortable, and content. It seems right, somehow. Settling, even though this name will be rarely used.

Sno.
