My first wig came today, figured it's the necessary first step since growing my hair out from a buzz cut is going to take a while

I didn't want to wait so tried it on, straight from the packaging, no styling yet.  I think it looks pretty cute.  It really helps seeing myself ... though I can't wait for my actual hair to grow out so I can match the style.

Anyone wearing wigs, can you exercise with them on, or is that not usually a good idea?

Next step is to figure the whole makeup thing out ... oh boy.  Today is a happy day!

Looks good, the first time I wore a wig I was amazed how that hair felt on my back.  :)  Three or four years ago I was in a buzz cut, too. I've been growing it out, the avatar picture is from a few days ago. You'll get there before you know it.

You did a very good choice. :) The wig suit you well and make you appearance more feminine.

WOW, looks really good :)  You have good poise, your pose looks really dramatic and cool too ^^
You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.

Already learning new things Devlyn ... Sitting on the couch and getting my hair stuck when I tilt my head forward, and of course actually having hair in my vision now.  So funny.  I love your hair as well ... 3 or 4 years, oh boy :)

Thanks everyone for the kind comments, it fills me with joy!

I think your hair looks wonderful! Mine is a shorter one to just above the shoulders with bangs. Easy to maintain but I'd like something a little longer.

I'm jealous of those with their own hair. Genetics took care of most of the stuff on top.

Looks like it suits you well!

And yes, you can excercise in a wig. I do everything but sleep and (sometimes) shower in mine. Bobby pins are your friend. As your hair grows to be an inch or so, they'll keep the wig attached to your head.

That's good to know MugwortPsychonaut ... I'm not sure how it would go when I'm out cycling, with the helmet and everything, but I guess that's what going out and trying is all about.

Any tips for general car for synthetic haired wigs?  Reading through the quick tips it mentions to not soak it, but they want you to buy all these care products, and something deep down me thinks all that stuff is really necessary.  But then again, this is foreign territory for me.

Thanks again!

Brush it every day. Wash it now and then. When it gets frizzed up, use a spray bottle to wet it, then flat iron at a low temperature, then brush the section. Repeat. For more thorough detangling, put your wig on a wig stand and use a fine-tooth comb, rather than a brush.

I'm pretty good at maintaining a wig. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
