Does anyone play games like Heroclix or Horrorclix? I play both and have for quite awhile.

Years ago I used to play MageKnight, but the game never really took off in New Zealand and I could never get anybody else at the gaming club to play a game with me.  I ended up removing the clix bases and rebasing and painting any Mageknight figures that were suitable for Warhammer Fantasy Battles.  Quite a few of the later series Orc and Goblin MK figures were excellent for Warhammer as were the Elf and Treefolk MK figures.

I always thought it was a pity that MageKnight wasn't a success here and most of the problem lay with the fact that most of the very first Rebellion series figures were just plain awful.  By the time the horrible first release figures were redesigned the damage was done and retailers who'd been burned by lack of sales didn't want to know.

I've got a Heroclix Wonder Woman figure sitting on top of my computer monitor, but she's the only Heroclix figure I own.

Right now I'm getting into Dropzone Commander and I have Infinity and Malifaux on the back burner.

Alas I have never played a clix. I did play Mosterpocalypse when that was still a thing.

I'm a kiwi too and there was Heroclix being played at a club I frequent just this last weekend! (at least I think it was heroclix, I was playing something else :P)

Just tonight I was looking at all the storage boxes where I keep my miniature figures and armies and I found myself wondering what I'm going to do with all of them.  I don't see myself ever playing again and I certainly don't want to throw them all in the bin because too much work with customising and painting has gone into a lot of them (sigh).

the new stuff i'm never going to paint/play is vexing me. I've traded/sold some stuff on bartertown. might be a good place to find them a new home.

Hey! My career is a professional miniature painter. I've worked on some big games such as Sedition Wars, Dread Ball and Zombiecide, as well as a whole lot of private commissions for other games. I really enjoyed painting Super Dungeon Explore, it was so much fun. I was working on DropZone Commander when I left the biz to transition, but the studio had it well under control :) Not played any games in a good while though. X

MK never really happened around here either, we had a few people ask about tournaments and so we threw one on our schedule for three weeks, week one, no one showed, week two we decided to report something so me and a friend played a few games, he won we reported it so the wizkids website would say the tournament had happend. The third week once again no one showed up, we started playing against each other gave up and went and got scorpion bowls.

Some 40K being played but GW has been doing everything in its power to destroy the game, so it has dropped off, my game stores use to be annual 40K megabattle which had about 50 players last time we held it has not happened for years. Warmechine/hordes goes back and forth, the new X-wing game has been popular, and a friend of mine ran a monthly huge game of battle tech for about 7 years.

I personally have Blood Angels, Thousand Sons, a bit of circle of orberoes, a few dozen mechs, and a few boxes of star wars, and D&D mini's and I don't really consider myself a minatures gamer. I know I am awful at painting.

PS. Moomin you have a very cool job. At least to geeks like me. :-P
What is a Lie when it's at home? Anyone?
Is it the depressed little voice inside? Whispering in my ear? Telling me to give up?
Well I'm not giving up. Not for that part of me that hates myself. That part wants me to wither and die. not for you. Never for you.  --Loki: Agent of Asgard

Hey miniature gamers, how are you? I have done some "professional" painting in the past, for a shop during the early nineties and I still avidly play "historicals" although I have very recently purchased Warzone Resurrection and the beginnings of an Imperial force for this. I also play Dark Elves/High Elves in WFB thanks to Malekith's newly found high kingship. Additionally I am a one eyed Imperial 40k player with Grey Knights and those old vanilla chappies the Ultramarines (but hey, if you can't win with 'em you're no general). I have an Indian (Apaches as I like to think of them) posse for Dead Man's Hand while today I actually played another of Great Escape's games which was WWII in 15mm. "Kampfgruppe" I think it might have been called but I stand to be corrected on this. I play Napoleonics weekly in 28mm using Black Powder rules and I have oodles and oodles of British for this. Indeed I helped build the terrain for a Waterloo spectacular (400 ft square in total) that myself and my friends got involved in. My current project is an Arthurian British campaign which will soon be up and running. I will be post Romans fighting Scots/Irish and Saxons.
I am about to undergo an MTF transition which my wargaming pals are unaware of as they are also unaware of my gender dysphoria but I am oddly enough gaming with an FTM guy who also attends the same gender support centre that I frequent. It's a small world and there are more of us out there than I had initially realised.
Anyway this is one masculine seeming pastime that I am happy to still pursue.
Sorry for blathering on and on,
I LOVE my games and figure painting,
xoxo,
Roxanne.

It's great to see more gamer girls. I'm in same boat with my gaming group. Don't know many of them well,so not sure how they will react. We just started arcadia quest and zombicide B.P. in home games. Beat undercity and we are about halfway thru shadows of brimstone. So no matter what I will still have a trans frndly home gaming group. Not so sure about my d&d and miniature group. May just put d&d,warmachine and infinity on the back burner for a bit.

Many of my gaming group are "blokey" and consider me as a "mate" which are very masculine references to our accepted personas. However I identify as a woman (secretly at present) and will be making my first steps to my transition soon and yet I have every faith that these "fellas" will be ultimately accepting because I know them to be "good blokes". However I expect some confusion at best from my longest gaming friends which might turn nasty, one never knows for certain. C'est la vie, my need to be seen as a woman overwhelms me whereas my abiding love of miniature games doesn't.
Anyway.... I am really missing playing Epic WH40k at present because I sold all my 6mm Imperial forces years ago. But at least Warzone has resurfaced and I have plenty of Germans for Flames of War. I might paint some figs today....what to paint? What to paint? Any suggestions?
I'm quite the oddball, I'm a construction worker, I love miniature games but I'm almost dying to be a girl! Go figure eh? Hope you guys have been cool with me venting and blathering.

Ciao,

Roxanne.

No need to apologize, that's what we're all here for. My situation is similar. I'm not to point where alot of ppl are noticing yet. Someone needs to start a thread for mini pics. We have some talented girls on here.

Thanks LJP, you're a nice girl that's for sure!

Fantastic idea too! All I have to do now is work out how to take decent photos with my phone and post them onto this forum to start a painted figs thread. It's only 8 in the morning where I live so I will have to wait until my nephew wakes up because he's the only tech savvy person that I live with who has enough know how to hopefully post photos!

Wow, a way to combine my love of miniature gaming with an overwhelming inner beauty! This is just too cool for words! I'll be back in several hours to start a painted figs thread. Happy Sunday!

That would be great. I use photobucket for my pics, it's really easy to use. Thank you for the kind words. I'm usually lurking in gaming or books :)

Hi LJP, unfortunately I live in a semi rural area without mobile/cell phone reception so I only use them for work and social reasons. Thus I am tech ignorant but at least I have a router for the internet. I don't even know what photobucket is without making stupid jokes....ahem.
I will probably need my nephew's help sadly. It's okay because I have at least come out to him as kids (he's 17) of his generation are some of the first youngsters to become truly LGBT understanding which is awesome. He's also a clever little man with whom I have been close since his birth. I mention this because he might have to see this site in order to help show me how to post photos.
I really do thank you for the advice but LJP!

I used to play Heroclix, but it died out here and I lost interest. I still have all my figures, though.
