In brief having an orchie done was the best thing ever for me. After surgery I would tell anyone who asked that it was an op that I would recommend to anyone, - which would always make guys squirm a bit and look uncomfortable, - but hey they asked

I was having problems with severe and painful inflammation of my testicles which is the main reason why I had the surgery done, but I quickly found that the sheer relief from no longer having my mind twisted around by T was way beyond no longer being in pain. Once the swelling settled down and I healed up I was delighted to discover it was much easier finding nice undies for myself. Not having two nuisance dangling highly sensitive objects down there anymore made life a lot easier too and did wonders for reducing my dsyphoria.
My op was done over twenty years ago now under general anesthetic and was a bit more complicated because of having been messed around with by evil surgeons when I was 12. I had minor problems with bleeding too and had to wear sanitary pads for a couple of weeks just to be on the safe side.
My advice is that if you know for certain that you can afford GRS and that you can have surgery done within a reasonable timeframe like a year or two then don't bother with having an orchie. If you can't afford GRS and it looks like GRS surgery is going to be a distant hope forevermore, then go for an orchie.
I was told by other transwomen I knew here in New Zealand at the time that having an orchie was a mistake because I wouldn't have enough skin 'down there' to have GRS done later. Looking back on it I know I made the right decision and I doubt I would ever bother with full GRS even if a fairy godmother suddenly appeared out of thin air and dropped a pile of cash in my lap. Your experience may vary though as I'm non-binary and an asexual romantic and have no desire to be either a 'poker' or a 'pokee'.
