Hi everybody,

Thanks for stopping by my post. I have always been insecure about my voice and it upsets me a lot. I talk a lot and love to talk with people but it's hard to talk in public sometimes because it sounds deep sometimes. I talk like a girl and the way I say things is very feminine but the pitch is not as high as it needs to be. I really want to get voice surgery of some kind so I don't have to worry about this anymore. I know of the well known surgeons who fix the voice but I can't afford 10k and over right now. Does anybody know of any surgeons that provide some kind of voice surgery at more of a cheaper price? I would really appreciate your feedback.

Thank you ! :)

Dr Haben's price was about 7K for VFS including air fair. There are some ways to trim a bit more off depending on the options but I think about 6.5 k might be about the lowest. There is another thread where I broke out the cost for my surgery.

You might want to look through the following thread where we were discussing cost. My surgery was 3 months ago so I suspect prices are still pretty much the same.

Thanks Dena so much. 7k is much better than the 12k from yeson. We're you unable to talk for the first two weeks? How are your results? Congrats on getting the surgery.

I just looked him up, he is upstate NY and I am on Long Island. I could drive to him for sure. Do you remember around what the flat rate just for the surgery was?

Thanks

From past surgeries I suspect the swelling would take a long time to go away and my body proved my suspicions right. My swelling was so bad that it took about two weeks before my cords would vibrate. Even today if I use my voice much it feels like I am getting hoarse. While people often have good voices at 6 weeks, Dr Haben warns that some can take as long as 6 months to return to normal.

I need to still use my trained voice but the surgery brought my trained voice into the feminine range. This is something I am comfortable with because for years I was using my trained voice to go from a very low male voice to a middle range male voice. For the blow by blow on my surgery check out my thread.

You can't have just the surgery because there is one payment for the doctor, one for the hospital and one for the Anesthesia. If you bring somebody to take care of you, you can chop $600 off for the night in the hospital. You might be able to save the cab fare. If you drive, that removes another grand for the air fare. They may require you to stay in the hotel so they can pick you up the day of the surgery. All the prices are listed on the other thread but I think you could shave $1700 off my bill if you have a care taker.

I wasn't going to pinch pennies on this surgery because I didn't want anything going wrong at the the last minute. Other than not getting enough sleep, everything went like clockwork.

Wow that's a long recovery, but it is for sure worth it. I will bring someone to take care of me as well sense it is pretty close to where I live. Thanks for this info I'm going to take a look at this thread you sent me. I will most likely go to Dr.Haden

$12k for Yeson? Where does that come from???
He charges around $7.5k for the surgery and some more for the Botox if needed - the rest of the costs are just travel expenses that vary depending on ones own demands and expectations about travel and staying in hotels :P - I paid maybe $k1-k1.5 for the flight and a cheap hotel.
But of course being able to drive to your surgeon makes it cheaper and easier ;)

Yeson for me was $7380. Botox (if needed) is $400. Airfare is variable but a coach class ticket is anywhere from $900 - $2000 USD from New York. Prestige/business class you're looking at around $5000. Hotel stay cost me about $600.

Honestly Haben is indeed cheaper. But the appeal of the proven results from Yeson and the then lack of examples from Haben swayed me in that direction. Still, no regrets. They took excellent care of me.

If you're in NY and short on cash, then Haben is who you should probably go to. You'll get a similar result to Yeson in most cases. However, Yeson/Dr Kim uses permanent sutures instead of dissolvable ones. Not sure what difference it makes but it may make a difference.

Hey guys, I am probably wrong but I remember someone telling me it cost 12k for yeson? Maybe they had more procedures done? The prices you listed are much better than 12k. I couldn't find any information about the yeson cost until someone told me that. Thanks for the correction I would consider going to yeson now

I may have said 12k including flight, meals, airfare. You can do it for slightly less but you're realistically looking at 10k or slightly less.

For me it was about 8000 EU in total. But it all depends a lot on the flight (I took a cheap Air China flight and it was so annoying to be squeezed into tiny seats and then only get a dry sandwich for the second flight, plus being searched to the bones in Bejing while transferring. ) and on the hotel (I used Phil House which was really cheap considering we travelled by two and shared a room that cost as much as a cheap single hotel room) and what you eat there (street food or fried chicken is <$10, Korean BBQ is really amazing but costs >$30, Euro/American style food is also expensive). And if you want to bring souveniers or do a lot of sightseeing there are additional costs.

But I never really calculated the food and souveniers and alls that as costs of the surgery, because that part was basically a vacation I had at the same time as I was there for surgery ;) - and I would have needed food at home, too...
