Transgender Real Estate Career?

I'm sure it's possible- but... Is it really?

This fear is keeping me stuck and I don't like it. I would love to pursue a career in that field, however, I'm feeling crippled by the anxiety that comes with being transgender in the field. Would tenants be consumed with hatred for a transgender landlord? Would that even have to be disclosed on my end? Do I have to be open and out in the field where in all honesty, the LGBT community has faced a lot of backlash? I'm just... Terrified.

Even if I pass, there's the idea that if that word is ever used it will be next to my name, even in front of my name, for a long while.

I hope that there is someone here that works in real estate that can give me a real life example from their own book.

I know one woman who is a realtor and she's Trans. She seems to do well. She doesn't exactly "pass" either.

Tenets won't care. Especially if they are getting a good deal on their rent.

If you want to be an agent, focus on finding deals for investors. If you can make them money, they won't care if you're trans.

Thanks for the feedback, though now I think I asked a silly question. I think I had a panic which made me think that doing anything as trans would be impossible. I hope this doesn't happen too  often. Sorry for the bother!

If you want a real estate career, then do that; if we go into something wondering if we will be shot down because we are trans, then we are already defeated. Don't wear trans on your sleeve.

What about a career selling real estate? Any experience with that?

Well I'd say it depends on your impresssion...
if people have a feeling they can trust you...
and you are able to communicate with people...

maybe a relaxed and honest impression could help...

If you can make money for someone else and catch a few bucks for yourself in the process, people don't seem to care. You can be upfront with the people you work for if you want and then it will be out of the way. Once people are told, the accept or reject depending on their own personal sense of what is moral. But I've found that it doesn't matter much either way. Some will be fine with it and others will not. You just need to find the niche where you will fit. Those opportunities are there, just as there are in any field. If you are good, you will find work.

If you pass then you pass, and you have the luxury of not disclosing. It's not like you would be required to tell everyone you meet, it's nobody else's business but your own. And even if you don't pass or don't completely pass, the biggest issues will remain; you have to be social and confident. Passing or not passing may play a part in that, but if you can separate it all and focus on your ability to talk to people with a good degree of confidence and resolve, then you shouldn't have much problem selling a house or managing a property.

If that's what you want to do in your career moving forward, then go do it.
Often people will respect you for taking on something new especially with everything else we have to handle :)

I held back for years and now I wish I had not xx
