Wondering about hormones

Hi there!

It´s me, asking about hormones, again. In my previous post I had assumed that a lot of FTMs probably deal with hormonal imbalance. Then I figured maybe I shouldn´t assume so much, and I ended up deleting it.  :eusa_whistle: sorry about that.

The reason I ask is I seem to have inherited a propensity towards androgens from my mother. When I was a kid I remember she told me she used to have beard growth (like me) and she used to have major acné well into her fourties and an extremely oily skin (like I still do in my late twenties).

Aside from that there is just a general emotional instability, much like PMS, where there is a lot of emotional spikes seemingly coming from nowhere. Which my mother used to have too. She never got checked for anything though, and neither have I but maybe I should. I thought I´d just wait for the endocrinologist on my gender team but it will be a while.

I think the inclination towards androgens might have something to do with me feeling male (and I´m okay with that). But I do wonder how taking hormones might affect any of this, and whether someone has experience with the "symptoms" I described.

Thanks!  :)

High levels of male hormones before your were born is the reason you feel male. I don't know if the hormones were produce by you, your mother or both of you but the exposure you received permanently altered your brain. It might be interesting to know what your current levels are. In my case I just got my medical records dating back to 1978 and my hormone levels were never tested. It you would like to know, make sure you ask.

I haven't a clue whether or not hormone level exposure is related to transness, but when I went to get my blood tested at the doc's, the only level that was higher than expected was T.

Coincidence? I'm not sure.

Yes, I think the androgen exposure did definitely influence my brain, and obviously also my body because I seem to produce more male physical traits than one "normally" would.

I just wondered about it because the imbalance in my hormones as is (now) seems to cause some major emotional instability as well (which is a problem my mother also had). That and the truckload of acné.

I guess this is something I´d have to discuss once I get assigned an endocrinologist. It would be nice if I could stabilize those moodswings and I think I can only do that by doing something about the hormonal imbalance, but the thing is I don´t want to go back to a stable estrogen system, either.

Pretty sure that taking T could be helpful, but I have to wait at least a year for that, since I am barely even beginning my trajectory (intake next week).
