My church has been transgender inclusive for longer than the 15 years I've been a member.  For several years our Parrish Associate was the first Presbyterian minister to maintain her ordination after transition MtF.  As far as we know, another member and I were the first openly transgender people ordained as elders in the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta.  We're also pretty sure we were the first church in the Presbytery to host a same sex wedding.  And of course in their infinite wisdom the Presbytery has decided that our over 100 year old church should be closed. >:(

That's horrible, Beverly. When will it (or is it going to) happen?

It was originally supposed to be January 11 but we were able to get it extended to April 3 so we could plan and invite past members and ministers.  And they are letting the preschool run through the end of May.

We all have to do what we can.  My local Baptist church had never seen a trans-person before, as far as I know.  I started going to social events, then asked if I could join a Bible study group.  Now I'm also a member of the "Baptist Ladies" group.  They are getting used to the idea.
