Welcome to the forum.  I'm from GA too and can recommend a good therapist if you would like.  Unfortunately, therapists in this state knowledgeable about this issue are pretty scarce and mostly all in Atlanta.

I am a MTF as well and had my surgery in 1982. I am here to help others find happiness in their life and am willing to answer any questions you might have about my knowledge or my life. You are very understanding having accepted your daughter and coming here for additional knowledge. This is not always the case and we have children here that will undergo more years of suffering because their parents refuse to accept the facts. I think you will find your child blooms under treatment and you will love her even more.

Hi Spwar, another GA peach here.  First of all, bless you for being a parent trying to understand and be compassionate.  There are far too many children in shelters and on the streets, thrown out of their homes by unaccepting parents.  As Deborah said, most of the truly qualified gender therapists are in Atlanta and there aren't that many of them.  We can direct you to some.  A therapist can then direct you to an endocrinologist who can start her on androgen blockers to stop the effects of puberty. 

By the way, if you are in the Atlanta area, have you heard of the Pride School?  It will hopefully open in September of this year and will be a private school for LGBT students grades K-12.

Please don't hesitate to ask us anything you want to know.  I think you will find there is almost no questions you can ask that we will not answer.

Its awesome that you have accepted your daughter - so many parents reject their own kids because they happen to not fit the parent's idea of who they should be and they wind up homeless, living on the streets - one of the big factors that helps a kid get through this is acceptance from their parents.

As you probably know your daughter has special medical needs - if she is not seeing a gender therapist please find her one asap, along with a qualified endocrinologist.  These two medical professionals are key to her having a successful transition.

Ask questions, look around - we are here to help
