Alberta bishop condemns LGBTQ school plan

"EDMONTON - A Catholic clergyman is both condemning and calling for the outright rejection of Alberta's plan to draw up rules to assist LGBTQ students, particularly transgender ones, in schools.

"Totalitarianism is alive and well in Alberta," Bishop Fred Henry of Calgary wrote in a public letter issued Thursday to his faithful.

"This approach and directive smack of the madness of relativism and the forceful imposition of a particular, narrow-minded, anti-Catholic ideology ... and must be rejected.""

So I'm lost on this a bit.
This bishop has thrown the bible out the window in favor of his own motives. No wonder thousands of people including me has moved away from the catholic church.

The amusing thing about all these Christian conservatives whining about their religious freedom is that they are also the loudest in denouncing and opposing any hint of sharia law.  It's quite obvious that they are not interested in religious freedom at all.  No, what they want is Christian supremacy and control of civil law.  Everyone with any sense of decency needs to rise up and smack them down until the slink whimpering back into their dank corner.  The same goes for the sharia proponents.  The world seems to be at an historical crossroads right now with the religious on one side and the humanists on the other both vying for control of the future.

And from where I am sitting (thousands of miles away, outside looking in) they already have their supremacy and control. It is called the USA and resembles a Christian version of some Middle East states where any nut-job cleric can say more or less anything no matter how bigoted or ridiculous and the locals seem to tolerate it.

Headline after headline, video after video, Pastor So-and-so or Reverend Such-and such are there pushing people into pre-defined pigeon holes or delibrately spreading lies about trans people in schools / bathrooms / locker-rooms and people just seem to accept it - heck a large number vote for these "leaders" or revere them.

"Trans" is no danger to society, but I am less convinced about "believers". IMO, if murder was not illegal then they would be burning transpeople at the stake to purify our souls.

Most Christians here are pretty ignorant of their religion.  They will accept the most outrageous things as long as the speaker says it holding a Bible in their hand and chants USA . . . USA . . . USA . . .

It's not that bad.  Here it's all mostly just words and insults.  There it is getting thrown off the tops of buildings.

True enough but it sometimes feels like they would like to throw us off the tops of buildings...

I forgot to mention the new regulations require all school boards to respect transgender students rights to use the washrooms and change rooms of their chosen gender as well as be allowed to compete in sports according to their chosen gender [ some dictators]
