I'm another one starting at 43. I don't think it's ever too late to start. I'm also discovering that results from HRT depend on a lot more than your age. Starting younger doesn't mean you will come out ahead. Like some others said, I started off with high estrogen levels and median level testosterone, so that might be a part of my nice progress at only a month and half into my HRT? I'm already having some nice breast development. I've always looked younger than my age and I'm just looking younger and younger as it progresses because of the changes in my skin. As they always say, your mileage may vary :)

I started transitioning at 50 and I believe me I looked my age. I'll spare you the before picture  :o

26 months of HRT have resulted in what you see in my avatar pic. People have told me that I look in my early 40s. I'll take that (i'm 53).

I have never been misgendered and I seem to attract no attention as i go about my day. I think that HRT has done quite a bit for me, and changes are still happening.

michelle666,

It's remarkable how much personality and character comes through in the photographs.  Looking at your before and after shots, it's clear how much happier and how much more at ease you are now.

For everybody else: Look at those before and after shots.  Which version of michelle666 would you rather have as your next door neighbor?

This, this and emphatically this!
I can only hope I transition half as well!

*hugs*

Your never too old and genetics play a bigger role than age when you transition after puberty.

I started HRT at 43 now at 45 I blend for cis all the time and pretty much have since I went full time at 3 1/2 months on HRT.

You're another success story that gives me so much hope!
Darling, you look FABULOUS!

*hugs*

Started at 38, low dose, transition dose at 39 and super happy at 40 (now). I probably have another 6 months before I hit a cumulative 2 years on a full dose.  I'm full time now and pass/blend with no problems at all.  YMMV but age isn't as much the factor as we all think.

I started HRT less than a year ago (March 2, 2015) at age 53.  Here is what I looked like at the start.......

Here I am at 7 weeks.......

Here is what I look like today 10 months into transition. (I did have some FFS at the end of August.).......

This after picture was before I had FFS.

Give it time young one, give it time....

I just wanted to take a minute and thank everyone for taking the time to post such amazing thoughts and pictures. After looking at so many of you beautiful ladies and seeing where you started from truly gives me hope. I am still a bit weary because each one of us is different and will see different results but I am a lot more hopeful. Thank you

Hugs

Hi, I started HRT at the age of 34 and I am very happy with my results. However, results could vary from one woman to another.

HRT is not a magic pill babes, you have to learn how to dress and groom yourself properly (i.e. skin care and make-up)
along with training your voice and mannerisms.

HRT is only a small component of transition - take the holistic approach and I am sure you'll be happy regardless.

Good luck girl. But remember, the biggest change is inside you. Getting to live an authentic life is priceless and for many of us it is our inner beauty that is finally shining through.
Self acceptance is sexy as all get out and that is what you are seeing in many of us and you need to set it free in you.

I'm way older and am getting ready to start. I wish I'd know everything earlier.

I started 2 years ago and I'm 30 now, I'd say changes for me happened a lot more in attitude then appearance.

About 1-2 months prior to HRT

I started at 35.  I looked more or less like this (though I think that picture was made when I was 33 or something)

About first 6-7 months there were very subtle changes, but I pretty much looked like the same person but something was still going on. For the first time I was gendered female around 9 months when I looked like this.

I am coming close to 38 and it is about 32 months on HRT and now I look like this.

That's pretty much it.

At age 37 I started a low dose for about six months. I'm now 38 and have been on a normal dose for about 8 months, and I'm just now starting to feel like the real changes are happening.  I'm almost a b cup, and even my hips have grown a bit...a very little bit, but I'll take it!

This thing is a marathon for sure. It's frustratingly slow sometimes, but other times I look back and see how far I've come in the last 14 months.  And April is exactly right. Hormones are a small part of transition...and not one we have any control over.

Amazing Ashley, what a wonderful transformation, I had to double check it was the same person! Quite an inspiration for me :) and by the way you look so happy!

I started HRT at 41.  I'm now 43 and am very happy with my results 21 months in.  Here is a comparison of me from the summer of 2012 (I was 39) on the right and last week on the left.  :)

Like others have said:  HRT is only part of the whole transition process.  Attitude/confidence is a big part of it too along with learning how to present in public.

For the medical component so far though I couldn't be happier with my results.
